[32:32 minutes]
[05:41] [Nitai:] "...rejuvenated by loving service to the Lord gains liberation from material association, mukti, and comes to know scientifically of the Personality of Godhead."
[05:56] [Prabhupada:] Evam prasanna-manaso bhagavad-bhakti-yogataḥ, bhagavat-tattva-vijnanam mukta-sahgasya jayate [SB 1.2.20].
[06:09] Bhagavat-tattva-vijnanam. It is not sentiment; it is vijnana.
[06:19] Vijnana means science. To become a devotee does not mean a sentimentalist.
[06:29] Sentimentalist has no value. One who has... There is sentiment. There is emotional sentiment in the...
[06:40] Just like this child is dancing. It is not sentiment-he has no sentiment-
[06:48] but he's dancing from the spiritual awakening.
[06:55] This dancing is not dog's dancing. This is one who is feeling love of Godhead, he's dancing.
[07:08] The more one feels love of Godhead, he can dance, he can chant, he can cry.
[07:17] There are so many, eight kinds of asta-sattvika-vikara [Cc. Antya 14.99]: transformation of the body,
[07:23] tears in the eyes. So,
[07:30] bhagavat-tattva-vijnanam. Jnanam me parama-guhyam yad vijnana-samanvitam [SB 2.9.31].
[07:39] Krsna said to Brahma, jnanam me parama-guhyam.
[07:50] To know about Krsna, it is very, very, confidential.
[07:58] It is not ordinary thing. Vijnana.
[08:04] Therefore many scientist, they're also joining our movement.
[08:11] Many doctor of philosophy, chemistry, they're understanding this is a science.
[08:20] And the more you make propaganda, the, I mean the higher circle of the society,
[08:30] learned scholars, professors, scientists, philosophers, they'll join.
[08:38] And for them we have got so many books.
[08:44] We have proposal to publish eighty books. Out of them we have published about fourteen books.
[08:55] So it is a science. Otherwise, why Srimad-Bhagavatam has devoted 18,000 verses for understanding?
[09:09] In the beginning of Srimad-Bhagavatam it is said, dharmaḥ projjhita-kaitavo 'tra .
[09:20] The cheating sentimentalism, the so-called religious system, is projjhita, is kicked out.
[09:36] There is no such place here in the Srimad-Bhagavatam. Projjhita.
[09:39] Just like you brush something with broomstick or something and throw away the dust.
[09:50] Similarly, the dusty things, so-called sentimental religionism, is not here in the Srimad-Bhagavatam.
[09:59] It is a science. Parama-guhyam: very confidential.
[10:08] To understand Krsna is not ordinary thing. Krsna says,
[10:15] manusyanam sahasresu kascid yatati siddhaye, yatatam api siddhanam kascin vetti mam tattvataḥ [Bg. 7.3].
[10:27] So this truth is understandable through Krsna or through Krsna's representative.
[10:45] And in Bhagavad-gita Krsna says,
[10:47] mayy asakta-manaḥ partha yogam yunjan mad-asrayaḥ [Bg. 7.1].
[10:53] Mad-asrayaḥ. Mad-asrayaḥ means "under My…, under Me."
[11:02] Actually it means, mad-asrayaḥ means one who has taken the shelter of Krsna,
[11:11] or one who has surrendered to Krsna without any reservation.
[11:16] He is called mad-asrayaḥ, or one who has taken shelter of Krsna perfectly.
[11:24] So this yoga, this bhakti-yoga, as it is stated here, bhagavad-bhakti-yogataḥ.
[11:33] So bhagavad-bhakti-yoga can be learned when one takes fully shelter
[11:42] at the lotus feet of a bhagavad-bhakta.
[11:47] That is called bhagavad-bhakta. You cannot become bhagavad-bhakta independently,
[11:52] without caring for your spiritual master.
[11:57] That is nonsense. That is rascaldom. He will never be able.
[12:05] We are singing daily, yasya prasadad bhagavat-prasado.
[12:10] But you do not know the meaning, unfortunately.
[12:14] Yasya prasadad: if the spiritual master is pleased, then Bhagavan is pleased.
[12:20] Not that independently. Yasya..., yasya prasadad. In the ten kinds of offenses,
[12:32] the first offense is guror avajna [Padma Purana, Brahma Khanḍa 25.15-18], disobeying the orders of guru.
[12:42] And especially guru's business is to preach Krsna consciousness.
[12:50] And if a person blasphemes a person who is preaching all over the world Krsna consciousness,
[12:58] that is the greatest offense. But we're reading ten kinds of offenses, gurvastaka,
[13:09] and the guru's... Do you know the meaning, what is that, sri-guru-carana-padma?
[13:19] What is that song? Read it.
[13:23] [Devotee:] Sri-guru-carana-padma, kevala bhakati-sadma bando mui savadhana...
[13:26] [Prabhupada:] Ah, savadhana mate, "with great care."
[13:30] You sing this song. Do you know the meanings? No. Who can explain the meaning?
[13:37] Yes. You explain...
[13:39] [Devotee:] Sri-guru-carana-padma means "the lotus feet of the guru." Kevala bhakati-sadma, that he is a reservoir of all devotion, or bhakti. Bando mui savadhana means that we worship him with great awe.
[13:57] [Prabhupada:] Hmm. Read. Read the other lines.
[14:00] [Devotee:] Jahara prasade bhai...
[14:02] [Prabhupada:] Ah, jahara prasade bhai. Then?
[14:06] [Devotee:] E bha va toriya jai.
[14:07] [Prabhupada:] E bha va toriya jai.
[14:09] If one is, I mean to say, favored by guru, then the path to cross over the nescience is clear.
[14:23] Jahara prasade bhai, e bha va toriya jai.
[14:26] Then, next line.
[14:28] [Devotee:] Krsna-prapti hoy jaha hate.
[14:29] [Prabhupada:] And krsna-prapti hoy jaha hate: by the favor of guru one gets Krsna.
[14:37] This is the... Yasya prasadad bhagavat. Everywhere. This is bhagavad-bhakti-yoga.
[14:45] So one who has not attained this stage, what is the bhagavad-bhakti?
[14:50] It is rascaldom. That is not bhagavad-bhakti.
[14:55] Evam prasanna-manaso bhagavad-bhakti-yogataḥ [SB 1.2.20].
[14:59] Bhagavad-bhakti-yoga. It is a kind of yoga,
[15:04] or the real yoga. Topmost yoga system is bhagavad-bhakti,
[15:14] and bhagavad-bhakti-yoga begins, adau gurv-asrayam.
[15:20] First of all surrender to guru. Tad viddhi pranipatena pariprasnena sevaya [Bg. 4.34].
[15:29] The official initiation has no meaning unless one who has fully surrended to guru.
[15:37] There is no question of initiation. Divya jnana hrde prokasito.
[15:42] Divya-jnana means "transcendental knowledge."
[15:47] So to play tricks with guru, to become diplomat and intriguer,
[15:54] these rascaldom will not help bhagavad-bhakti-yoga. You can get some other things,
[16:01] some material profit, but spiritual life will be spoiled.
[16:07] So this Krsna consciousness movement is for spiritual enlightenment,
[16:13] not for how to get money, how to earn money. This is not Krsna consciousness.
[16:21] Caitanya Mahaprabhu teaches, na dhanam na janam na sundarim kavitam va jagad-isa kamaye [Siksastaka 4].
[16:32] Na dhanam. The materialists, what they want? They want money.
[16:37] They want many followers and many subordinates or nice, beautiful wife. This is materialist.
[16:51] But Caitanya Mahaprabhu refuses. Na dhanam: "No, no. I don't want money."
[16:58] This is teaching. Na dhanamna janam: "I don't want to rule over somebody." No.
[17:08] Na…, na dhanam na janam na sundarim kavitam: a poetic imagination of nice, beautiful wife.
[17:19] "These things I do not want." What is? Then, bhagavad-bhakti-yoga,
[17:25] mama janmani janmanisvare bhavatad bhaktir ahaituki tvayi [Siksastaka 4].
[17:31] Then bhagavad-bhakta do not want even liberation.
[17:35] Why Krsna…, Caitanya Mahaprabhu is saying janmani janmani, "birth after..."?
[17:40] One who is liberated, he does not take anymore birth in this material world.
[17:46] Those who are impersonalist, they merge into the effulgence, bodily rays of Krsna,
[17:53] and those who are devotees, they get permission to enter into Vaikuntha or Goloka Vrndavana. [aside:] Don't make [indistinct].
[18:06] So if you want prasanna mana, always jubilation, that is spiritual life.
[18:18] Not that always morose, making some plans.
[18:24] That is not spiritual life. You don't find any materialistic person jubilant.
[18:33] He's morose, and thinking and smoking cigarette and drinking, making some big, big plan.
[18:41] That is materialist. And bhagavad-bhakti-yogataḥ: prasanna-manaso.
[18:49] In the Bhagavad-gita, brahma-bhūtaḥ prasannatma na socati na kahksati [Bg. 18.54]. Prasannatma.
[18:56] This is spiritual life. As soon as you become actually in spiritual life,
[19:02] never mind either you impersonal philosophy or personal philosophy; both of them are spiritualist.
[19:10] Only the difference is the impersonalists think that "I am spirit. God is spirit.
[19:17] Therefore we one. We merge into this." Sayujya-mukti. Krsna gives them sayujya-mukti.
[19:24] But that is not very safe. Because, anandamayo 'bhyasat .
[19:32] Ananda, real ananda, cannot be realized oneself; there must be two.
[19:42] Love does not mean I love myself and meditate upon love.
[19:46] No. There must be there another person, lover. Therefore,
[19:53] dvaitavada. As soon as you come to the bhakti school, there must be dvaitavada.
[20:00] Two: Krsna and Krsna's devotee.
[20:07] And the exchange of Krsna and Krsna's servant is called bhakti.
[20:14] The dealings, that is called bhakti.
[20:18] Therefore it is said, bhagavad-bhakti-yogataḥ. Not monism, oneness.
[20:26] There is always the bhakta,
[20:32] devotee, is trying to please Krsna. They, just like gopis, the topmost devotees,
[20:41] their only business is to please Krsna. That's all.
[20:47] Therefore Caitanya Mahaprabhu recommended,
[20:31] ramya kacid upasana vraja-vadhū-vargena ya kalpita [Caitanya-manjusa].
[20:55] There cannot be better method of worship than the process which the gopis adopted.
[21:07] They did not care for anything. The gopis, some of them were engaged in household affairs,
[21:16] somebody was talking with husband, sometimes taking care of the children,
[21:21] some of them were boiling milk.
[21:26] As soon as there was Krsna's flute, everything left and then:
[21:30] "Where are you going?" Husband, brother, father, "Where are you going?"
[21:32] "No. Don't care. Krsna's flute is there; we do not know anything."
[21:43] This is the most..., highest, topmost. Caitanya Mahaprabhu.
[21:49] Caitanya Mahaprabhu was so strict that a woman could not come very near
[21:57] to offer Him obeisances. From little distance.
[22:03] Caitanya Mahaprabhu, as a sannyasi, He was so strict. Of course, that should be the principle,
[22:14] but especially in your country, that cannot be very strictly observed.
[22:20] But at least one should be very careful.
[22:28] So Caitanya Mahaprabhu was so strict, [but] He's eulogizing the gopis' love of Krsna.
[22:39] So that gopis' love is not ordinary thing, this. It is transcendental.
[22:45] Otherwise, how Caitanya Mahaprabhu appreciates?
[22:49] How Sukadeva Gosvami appreciate krsna-lila?
[22:56] This krsna-lila is not ordinary thing; it is spiritual.
[23:00] So unless one is situated firmly in bhakti-yoga, they should not try to understand
[23:13] what is the pastimes of the gopis with Krsna. That will be dangerous.
[23:22] Narottama dasa Thakura, he says,
[23:25] rūpa-raghunatha-pade hoibe akuti, kabe hama bujhabo se jugala-piriti [Lalasamayi Prarthana 4].
[23:32] Jugala-piriti: the loving dealings between Radha and Krsna.
[23:40] Jugala..., jugala means "couple"; piriti means "love." So Narottama dasa Thakura,
[23:50] the exalted acarya, he said, "When I shall be able to understand?"
[23:57] Not that "I have understood everything." Not "I have understood everything."
[24:04] This is... This is vijnanam, bhagavat-tattva-vijnanam.
[24:08] So we should be very careful to understand the science,
[24:13] and the science can be understood through the mercy of the spiritual master.
[24:21] Therefore Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura says, yasya prasadad:
[24:25] first of all try to please your spiritual master. Then try to understand.
[24:34] So it is a great science. Tad viddhi pranipatena pariprasnena sevaya
[24:40] upadeksyanti te jnanam jnaninas tattva-darsinaḥ [Bg. 4.34]. This is the process.
[24:46] First of all, surrender yourself: "I shall surrender you." "All right." "Now I don't like it." What is this?
[24:56] What is this surrender, "Now I don't like it"? That means there was no surrender.
[25:05] Surrender does not mean "Now I surrender, and if you do not please me,
[25:10] if you do not satisfy my senses, then I don't like it." That is not surrender.
[25:19] Surrender, the example is given by Bhaktivinoda Thakura: dog. Very good example.
[25:30] The dog surrenders to the master fully. Even the master kills him, he does not protest.
[25:40] This is example. Vaisnava thakura, tomara kukkura baliya janaha more.
[25:46] "Vaisnava Thakura, my dear, my revered spiritual master, you are the best of the Vaisnavas.
[25:52] Please accept me as your dog." That is surrender.
[26:02] So real surrender begins, mayy asakta-manaḥ partha yogam yunjan mad-asrayaḥ [Bg. 7.1].
[26:13] Asrayah. Asraya loiya bhaje krsna tare nahi tyaje [Narottama dasa Thakura].
[26:20] One who executes devotional service taking shelter of bona fide spiritual master,
[26:27] Krsna will never give him up. He'll accept him.
[26:32] Asraya loiya bhaje krsna tare nahi tyage ara saba more akarana[?].
[26:37] Others, they will simply waste their time. That's all.
[26:43] So this is bhagavad-bhakti-yoga. Adau gurv-asrayam sad-dharma-prccha, sadhu-marga-anugamanam [Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu 1.1.74].
[26:51] Everything's there, in the devotional service, in the Nectar of Devotion, Teachings of Lord Caitanya,
[26:59] Srimad-Bhagavatam, Bhagavad-gita we are publishing.
[27:03] If we do not understand, if we think that "These books are for sale, and we are all learned.
[27:13] We have learned everything. Finished. Our business is finished," that will not improve the condition.
[27:23] Prasanna-manaso bhagavad-bhakti-yoga bhagavat-tattva-vijnanam [SB 1.2.20].
[27:27] It is a science. As you learn science, just like our Svarūpa Damodara, Dr. Svarūpa Damodara-
[27:37] he is now Doctor. We have got another Doctor in New Vrindavan; he's also scientist.
[27:45] So if you want to take the doctorate title, that is also the surrender.
[27:51] There are committees, three-, four-men committees.
[27:54] When they certify, "Yes, this is all right. This thesis presented by such and such, it is approved,"
[28:01] then you get. So everywhere there is, tad vijnanartham sa gurum eva abhigacchet.
[28:11] So if we are not serious about understanding the science of Krsna,
[27:17] if you take some opportunity to become this, to become that
[28:21] and make some money and this and that, then your whole thing is finished.
[28:27] For opportunist, there is no Krsna consciousness. For the real surrendered soul, mad-asrayaḥ.
[28:37] So bhagavat-tattva-vijnanam. Everyone, we are, at least, we have enlisted ourself
[28:46] to become graduate in bhagavat-tattva-vijnanam. This is the process. Mad-asrayaḥ,
[28:55] Krsna says. Mad-asrayaḥ means yogam yunjan mad-asrayaḥ.
[29:00] To become under Krsna or... That is not possible. Because without taking shelter of Krsna's servant,
[29:14] gopi-bhartuḥ pada-kamalayor dasa-dasanudasaḥ ...
[29:18] We have to become servant of the servant of the servant of the servant of Krsna.
[29:23] Not aspiring, "I shall become directly servant of Krsna."
[29:30] That is Mayavada. Our process is the servant of the… Caitanya Mahaprabhu teaches, the servant of the...
[29:38] The more one has become servant of the hundred generation down, he's perfect.
[29:49] So try to understand. Bhagavat-tattva-vijnanam mukta-sahgasya jayate.
[29:58] Bhagavat-tattva-vijnanam, this science, who can understand?
[30:01] Mukta-sahgasya. Mukta means "liberated,"
[30:06] and sahga means "association."
[30:09] So association means we are always, we are contaminated by the material nature.
[30:18] Sometimes we are good, sometimes we are passionate, sometimes we are rascal.
[30:24] There are three gunas. Some of them are very good,
[30:30] and some of them are passionate, and some of them are rascals.
[30:36] So we have to transcend even the platform of so-called goodness.
[30:44] That is called mukta-sahga. Because in the material life we are always
[30:50] associating with these gunas, three qualities, guna-mayi, maya.
[30:57] Daivi hy esa guna-mayi. Guna-mayi. Guna,
[31:03] these three gunas. So it is very difficult.
[31:07] Sometimes we are on the platform of goodness, then we fall down in the passion,
[31:11] then we fall down in the ignorance, or from ignorance I rise again
[31:15] in goodness and again fall down. This is going on.
[31:19] But, therefore, you have to become mukta-sahgasya, above all of these qualities. Above it.
[31:32] "I am very good man. I am good manager. I am this...," you have to surpass that also.
[31:38] That is called mukta-sahgasya. But that mukta-sahgasya is possible when we are sincerely engaged
[31:46] in devotional service, just like the Deity worship.
[31:49] The Deity worship means gradually to become mukta-sahga.
[31:54] Therefore Deity worship is essential.
[31:59] There is process. You must all rise early in the morning, you must take bath,
[32:03] you should offer mahgala-arati. Then after that, after that, dressing, some flowering.
[32:09] In this way if you always remain, then gradually you will become mukta-sahga. [indistinct]
