Dear Srila Prabhupada,
You are the topmost swan-like devotee and wandering mendicant, the jewel who is kindly delivering the message of Caitanya Mahaprabhu to the world. You have saved us from the most wretched states of existence, simply by giving us Krsna. It is Krsna's mercy to have given us you.
brahmanḍa brahmite kona bhagyavan jiva
guru-krsna-prasade paya bhakti-lata-bija
(Cc. Madhya 19.151)
So fortunate are we to have received the seed of devotion after having traveled throughout the universe for so many billions of years. Srila Prabhupada, you are the compassionate nature of the Lord. You cannot stand the sufferings of the conditioned souls, so out of your mercy you have descended to bring them back to the Kingdom of God. You are never stereotyped; you will do anything for Krsna. You have come to this place of ignorance carrying the torchlight known as Srimad-Bhagavatam. Our eyes are being forced open by its brilliant glow.
You are selflessly serving your spiritual master with unalloyed devotion. You have unflinching faith in his words and in the Lord. You are kindly accepting our service, though it is grossly materially tinged. By your touch, our service becomes pure and acceptable to Krsna. Your mercy is even greater than that of the Lord of Vaikuntha, for although He is merciful to all the nitya-mukta (eternally liberated) souls, you are merciful to both nitya-mukta and nitya-baddha (eternally conditioned) souls. There is no possibility of ever repaying the debt we owe to you, but you are so humble that when you see your own disciples advancing in Krsna consciousness you feel indebted to them. Surely this humility is unrivalled.
The water that washed your feet can purify all places of pilgrimage. Following perfectly in the footsteps of the Six Gosvamis of Vrndavana, you purify all the reactions of the sinful activities of conditioned souls by pouring on them transcendental songs about Govinda. You are expert in increasing the limits of the ocean of transcendental bliss.
Srila Prabhupada, you have given us so many wonderful books. This is another manifestation of your unlimited mercy. You are making access to yourself so easy. You are always finding ways to engage even unwilling persons in Krsna's service. You are performing miracles, transforming mlecchas into brahmanas. Your potency can transform the lowest soul into a pure devotee. You are a soul fully surrendered unto the lotus feet of the Lord, engaged cent per cent in His service, always hearing and chanting the message of Lord Caitanya and always very anxious to hear of the transcendental pastimes of Radhika and Madhava. We pray to be benedicted with one drop of your mercy and compassion. We beg to serve in your mission of delivering all conditioned souls within this universe. May we eternally remain as insignificant servants under the dust of your lotus feet.
