The spiritual master is the bona fide representative and personal friend of the Supreme Lord, and by his mercy we can also become dear to the Lord. And because the spiritual master is the representative of the Supreme Lord, he must be honored as such. Therefore, each and every day, each and every hour, each and every moment we must remember the lotus feet of our spiritual master, Srila Prabhupada. That is the meaning of advancement in spiritual life.

Factually, before Srila Prabhupada came to the west, none of us knew about Krsna, none of us knew that the Supreme Lord is a person and has pastimes, that He has friends and a residence, and that each one of us can go back to home and play with Him. That information has only been given by our spiritual master. He has given us spiritual life, and without Srila Prabhupada no one can find spiritual life. Therefore, there is no way to repay what he has given.

It is stated in the Vedic literature that when one approaches the spiritual master to acquire knowledge from him, one has to give something in return. That is called daksina

But daksina does not mean just a quantity of money. The only daksina which is acceptable is one's life.

Srila Prabhupada has given his life to spread this movement of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, and has given up all the comforts of Vrndavana to come teach us about Krsna. The only thing he asks is that we finish our sense gratification and chant Hare Krsna. Therefore, let us offer our lives unto the lotus feet of our divine master. His Divine Grace A.C.
