The light of your face, which glows with the golden hue of Lord Caitanya's empowered mercy, shines, dazzling my eyes, and illuminates the only path of devotion. You are the knower of the unknown, Krsna, who does not reveal Himself but to the most pure of fully surrendered souls. Because you bestow your mercy on all, your are more kind than kindness. You are sweeter than the fresh rose in spring, and once knowing you no one could ever seek shelter in this empty material world again. You are more tolerant than the most noble tree, and you only see what little good there may be in my service.
I fall down in the dust of your lotus feet again and again and beg you, "Please forgive me." I am so proud, so vain. Let this demoniac pride be vanquished so that somehow or other I may begin to serve you.
Like a blind, stumbling dog following a munificent king, I am following you, hoping to lap up some scraps of mercy. In such a fallen state where is the question of service? Still you may kick me or reward me. That is your right because you are my only master. I know no other refuge than your benedicting feet.
Your fallen servant,
