Dear Srila Prabhupada,
In the first chapter of Adi-lila in the Caitanya-caritamrta you have written, "It is not possible for a conditioned soul to directly meet Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, but if one becomes a sincere devotee and seriously engages in devotional service, Lord Krsna sends an instructing spiritual master to show him favor and invoke his dormant propensity for serving the Supreme."
Your mercy is incalculable because you have come to us, who were never serious and had no contact whatsoever with devotional service. You described us nicely in your arrival prayer: "Absorbed in material life, they think themselves very happy and satisfied, and therefore they have no taste for the transcendental message of Vasudeva." But just as Lord Caitanya engaged even the monkeys in Jharikhaḍa forest in chanting Hare Krsna, you have come and engaged us mlecchas and yavanas in dancing and singing about Krsna.
You have become glorious by carrying out the desire of Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Prabhupada; you are satisfied by virtue of your love for him and for Krsna. There is nothing we can do to glorify you further. Our words are all inappropriate; our activities are so imperfect. Our only hope is that someday, by the potency of the Holy Name, we may become purified to the point of living as you have taught us. Then you, all the members of the disciplic succession, and Lord Krsna Himself may become pleased to see all these fallen hippies dancing and singing just like devotees.
