Each new sloka of Srimad-Bhagavatam adds endlessly to my distress, knowing that the completion of this monumental task will bring your divine mission to its close, and leave me a hopeless, stubborn, wretched and fallen orphan. Soon you will no longer be there, in New York, Tehran or Mayappur, to interject your causeless mercy into my darkened days. I fear that day when my parched dry heart will no longer receive your loving, compassionate showers, which are beyond all reason, logic and cause.
Due to this thought, a dark black cloud surrounds my whole existence and sinks me into a pit of abysmal depression. My whole life becomes meaningless, and the will to continue forsakes me. It is only then that the reality of this painful concern forces me to seek solace in the knowledge and realization you have so generously given me. A ray of hope enters my heart, and the voice of intelligence speaks thus to my weakened will: "Your Father has entrusted upon you Matchless Gifts, which will safeguard you and even lead you back to your eternal abode."
As a neophyte I see your gifts as your words and your movement. Your words consist of philosophy, claims and instructions.
Your PHILOSOPHY is simple, yet it includes all the past acaryas, religions and philosophies. It goes like this: Sri Krsna is the ultimate goal and the undiscovered pleasure in every object of desire. He is Govinda, the pleasure giver.
You say:
"She can not be that ultimate.
This can not reach that ultimate.
He can not have that ultimate.
Krsna says that He is the ultimate in everything."
It can not give that ultimate.
That can not bring that ultimate.
This can not reach that ultimate.
He can not have that ultimate.
Krsna says that He is the ultimate in everything."
It can not give that ultimate.
That can not bring that ultimate.
Your CLAIM is very serious: Only those who follow YOUR instructions will reach that ultimate.
And your INSTRUCTIONS are the most straightforward. They cover every move, every act and every thought. Without doubt, with full authority and gravity, you repeatedly tell us: Together serve Krsna unceasingly.
And this is the birth of your MOVEMENT-ISKCON. It is a precious gift, a golden carriage to carry on your words. It is your divine body, it is devotional service, it is Krsna personified in this day on this planet. It is the path, the gate, and the home. In it you and your words will live eternally, and by it every living entity can reach his eternal abode.
Your final word to all of us is: simply cooperate, stick together, serve together. Particularly those of us you have entrusted with responsibility for managing (among whom I am one) should realize the full, practical meaning of cooperation and be faithful to your words in order to lead and teach leadership to others.
I see us far from this realization, but due to your mercy I have some faith. Faith in the spiritual miracles happening each day, in the consciousness of my Godbrothers, and that of my own. I also realize that I have to begin from myself, here and now, at the lotus feet of my Godbrothers.
Prabhupada, rest assured, you have told us everything! It is now our duty to act and move towards that ultimate that you have promised us. You have requested that we cooperate, assuring that each of us can be a pure devotee.
If Krsna is the ultimate and our goal is Krsna, in order to reach that ultimate we reach out to you and beg your mercy on us fallen souls. You are our ultimate, we hold to your dhoti, take us Prabhupada, take us!
Your most fallen servant, on these pages by your infinite mercy,
Atreya Rsi dasa adhikari
