[00:01] [Prabhupada:] So we don't believe in the next life just to avoid this consequence.
[00:09] But that will not excuse us. We have to accept a type of body.
[00:16] Otherwise, how there are so many different types of bodies? What is the explanation?
[00:24] Why different forms of body, different stages of body, different standard of body?
[00:32] That is nature's law. Therefore this human form of life should be properly utilized,
[00:44] not simply engaged in sense gratification like cats and dogs.
[00:50] That is not very responsible life. Responsible life is that
[00:57] "I have got this improved form of life than the cats and dogs,
[01:03] and I have got more intelligence than the cats and dogs.
[01:09] If I simply utilize it for four bodily necessities of life..."
[01:16] Four bodily necessities of life means we require some eating.
[01:22] The cats, dogs, human being or high-court judge or anyone, they require some eating.
[01:31] They require sleeping, apartment. So that is...
[01:36] The cats and dogs can sleep without apartment, but the sleeping required.
[01:44] That is fact. Eating required, that is fact. And sex life, that is also fact.
[01:51] And defense, that is also fact. But these things are common to the cats and dogs and man,
[02:02] human being. So what is the special feature of the human being?
[02:07] The special feature of the human being is that a human being can consider that
[02:16] "I have got this nice American or Australian or Indian body.
[02:22] Then what I am going to get next? What kind of body?"
[02:27] That is utilized for human intelligence. A cat and dog cannot think like that.
[02:36] Therefore our business should be, "Now, by the nature's way,
[02:42] I have come to this form of life by evolutionary process.
[02:47] Now I have got good intelligence. How I shall utilize it?"
[02:53] You are cultivating knowledge. "The ultimate goal of knowledge," Krsna says,
[03:06] The whole knowledge is meant for understanding God. That is the end of knowledge.
[03:15] By progressive knowledge you can make progress,
[03:20] but unless you do not come to the point to understand what is God,
[03:25] then your knowledge is imperfect. That is called Vedanta. Athato brahma jijnasa.
[03:32] This human form of life, nice facility, intelligence...
[03:41] Just like Australia was undeveloped. Since the Europeans came here,
[03:49] it is now very developed, resourceful, because the intelligence has been utilized. [break]
[04:04] Nature is a machine. So do you think a machine works without an operator? Do you think?
[04:12] Is there any evidence? Now, this is a machine, photography, a wonderful machine.
[04:20] It is taking the picture, and it will move. But there is an operator.
[04:26] Where is the machine which is working without operator? Can you give any example,
[04:33] "Here is a machine which is working without operator"?
[04:38] So how do you think that the nature machine is working without the supreme operator,
[04:43] God's instruction? How do you think it? This is not very reasonable. We have to judge.
[05:00] There are different evidences. One of the evidence is hypothesis.
[05:02] That hypothesis is that "Because we see that no machine works without operator, therefore
[05:11] we should conclude it, even though we do not know what is God, what is the nature,
[05:16] we must conclude it that the nature is working under some supreme operator.
[05:23] That is God." It is not necessary to see the operator, but we can guess that
[05:32] there must be operator. So human life is meant for finding out who is there to operate.
[05:41] That is human life. Otherwise it's cats' and dogs' life. They are eating, sleeping, mating
[05:47] and dancing. That's all. That is not human life. You must find out who is the operator.
[05:55] Athato brahma jijnasa. This is called, in Sanskrit word,
[05:59] "Now this human form of life is meant for inquiring about the supreme operator."
[06:07] Now, that supreme operator, Krsna, is so kind. He is giving evidence in the Bhagavad-gita,
[06:20] "Now here I am. Under My direction the prakrti, the nature, material nature, is working."
[06:30] So you accept. Then your business is done.
[06:36] And Krsna gave evidences how He is controlling the nature.
[06:44] When Krsna was seven years old, He lifted one big mountain on His finger.
[06:52] That means the... Our understanding is that there is law of gravitation.
[07:00] By law of gravitation, such a big mountain, it cannot stay in one man's finger.
[07:06] That is our calculation. But He did it. That means He counteracted the law of gravitation.
[07:16] That is God. So if you believe this, then you know God immediately.
[07:28] There is no difficulty. Just like if the child is warned, "My dear child, do not touch fire.
[07:36] It will burn you." So if the child accepts, then he gets the perfect knowledge immediately.
[07:43] If the child does not accept, he wants to make experiment, then he will burn his finger.
[07:51] So our process of knowledge-you should take from the supreme authority.
[07:58] Then we save time for research work. That is Krsna consciousness movement.
[08:04] We take perfect knowledge from Krsna. I may be imperfect, just like child is imperfect.
[08:12] So I may be imperfect, you may be imperfect. But if you take the perfect knowledge
[08:18] from the supreme perfect, then your knowledge is perfect. That is the process.
[08:25] This is called avaroha-pantha, knowledge coming..., deductive knowledge.
[08:33] So everything is there, and if you like to take advantage of this movement
[08:42] and make your life perfect, go back to home, back to Godhead,
[08:48] then fully utilize this center, our Melbourne center. Come here, read our books,
[08:57] and argue. Try to understand with your full knowledge, no blindly acceptance.
[09:02] There is reason. There is argument. There is philosophy. There is science.
[09:08] Everything is there. And if you accept that "Simply by chanting, I shall realize,"
[09:16] that is also allowed. Both ways: if you accept this simple process, that
[09:24] "Chant Hare Krsna and realize God," that is also fact, and if you think,
[09:29] "What is this nonsense, chanting Hare Krsna?" then you read books.
[09:34] Both ways we are prepared. Come and take advantage of this movement.
[09:38] Thank you very much.
[09:40] [Devotees:] Jaya Prabhupada. [break]
[09:45] [Devotee:] Srila Prabhupada, when it is cited in the scriptures that Lord Brahma rides on a swan,
[09:51] a hamsa, is this..., are we to take this to mean it is a real swan, or is it something symbolic?
[10:02] [Prabhupada:] Not symbolic. It is fact. Why do you say symbolic?
[10:11] [Devotee:] It's rather unusual.
[10:13] [Prabhupada:] Unusual... What experience you have got? You have no experience.
[10:19] Have you got any experience of other planetary system, what is there? Then?
[10:26] Your experience is very teeny. So you should not calculate Brahma's life and other things
[10:33] by your teeny experience.
[10:36] Now, in the Bhagavad-gita it is said that the duration of life of Brahma,
[10:43] sahasra-yuga-paryantam ahar yad brahmano viduḥ... [Bg. 8.17].
[10:49] Now, Brahma's life, it is stated in the sastras.
[10:53] We have already explained that we accept the authoritative statement of sastra.
[10:59] Now, Brahma's life is stated there. Arhat means his one day is equal to our four yugas.
[11:11] Four yugas means 4,300,000 years, and multiply it by one thousand, sahasra-yuga-paryantam.
[11:23] Sahasra means one thousand. And yuga, yuga means the 4,300,000 years makes a yuga.
[11:34] And multiply it by one thousand: that period is Brahma's one day.
[11:42] Similarly, he has got one night. Similarly, he has got one month.
[11:47] Similarly, he has got one year. And such hundred years he will live.
[11:52] So how you can calculate? How it is within your experience?
[11:57] You will think something mysterious. No. Your experience is nothing.
[12:05] Therefore you have to take experience from the perfect person, Krsna.
[12:13] Then your knowledge is perfect. That I have already said.
[12:16] Don't try to understand with your teeny experience everything. Then you will be failure.
[12:30] [Devotee 2:] Prabhupada, are all one's efforts to serve Krsna virtually... [break]
[12:33] [Prabhupada:] That I have already explained, that you are coming here.
[12:39] Even though you are not initiated, that is also service. So if you deposit one cent daily,
[12:48] one day it may become a hundred dollars. So when you get the hundred dollars,
[12:57] you can get the business. [laughter] So you come here daily, one cent, one cent...
[13:06] When it will be hundred dollars, you will become a devotee.
[13:09] [Devotees:] Jaya!
[13:11] [Prabhupada:] So this is not wasted. It is... That is stated in the Srimad-Bhagavatam, krta-punya-punjaḥ.
[13:22] Krta-punya. Krta means done. Sukadeva Gosvami is describing when Krsna was
[13:31] playing with His cowherd boys friends, so he was describing that "These cowherd boys who
[13:38] are playing with Krsna, they have not come to this position in one day." Krta-punya-punjaḥ.
[13:46] "After life after life, having performed pious activities, now they have come to this
[13:54] position that they are allowed to play with the Supreme." [break]
[14:00] [Devotee:] How do you convince a person who says..., that they are suffering, when they're actually,
[14:03] when they're saying they are happy and not afraid to die?
[14:08] [Madhudvisa:] [explaining] Someone who is not afraid to die and says that he's not suffering, how do...
[14:14] [Prabhupada:] He's a madman. That's all. Who is caring for madman's word?
[14:37] [Devotee 4:] It's very easy to convince some people that they're not their bodies,
[14:41] but it's not very easy to convince them that they're not their minds.
[14:44] Is there some way we can explain?
[14:46] [Prabhupada:] That will take time. How can you expect that in one minute everyone will understand everything?
[14:52] He requires education, time. If he is prepared to give the time, then he will understand,
[14:58] not that within five minutes, ten minutes, he will understand the whole thing.
[15:03] That is not possible. He is a diseased man. He requires treatment, medicine and diet.
[15:14] In this way he will understand.
[15:18] A diseased man, if he doesn't care for medicine, diet, then he will suffer. That's all.
[15:33] Yes? Anyone? No?
[15:40] [Devotee 5:] If we've been here lifetime after lifetime performing impious activities, does it mean that
[15:45] we have to be here lifetime after lifetime performing pious activities
[15:48] to balance out our sinful reactions?
[15:53] [Madhudvisa:] [explaining] We have been here for many lifetimes performing sinful activities.
[15:57] So is it possible to counteract all those sinful activities in one lifetime,
[16:01] or does it require many...?
[16:02] [Prabhupada:] One minute. That is Krsna consciousness movement. One minute.
[16:12] You are not reading Bhagavad-gita? What Krsna says?
[16:17] Sarva-dharman parityajya mam ekam saranam vraja, aham tvam sarva-papebhyo moksayisyami [Bg. 18.66]:
[16:26] "You surrender unto Me. Give up your all business. I will give you relief
[16:31] from all sinful reaction immediately." So it requires one minute.
[16:39] "My dear Krsna, I was forgotten. Now I understand. I fully surrender unto You."
[16:46] Then you become immediately free from all sinful reactions. Without any reservation,
[16:54] without any politics, if you fully surrender, Krsna is assuring,
[17:00] aham tvam sarva-papebhyo moksayisyami ma sucaḥ.
[17:05] He reassures, "Don't worry whether I will be able to give you relief from all reaction."
[17:13] Ma sucaḥ. "Finished, guaranteed. You do this."
[17:18] So how much time it requires to surrender to Krsna? Immediately you can do that.
[17:30] Surrender means you surrender and work as Krsna says. That is surrender.
[17:44] Four things: "You always think of Me, and you become My devotee, you worship Me
[17:52] and offer your respectful obeisances unto Me." You do these four things.
[18:00] That is full surrender. Mam evaisyasi asamsaya: "Then you come to Me, without any doubt."
[18:07] Everything is there. Krsna has given everything fully. If you accept it, then life is very simple.
[18:18] There is no difficulty. Yes?
[18:28] [Devotee 6:] How long do you say it is before Krsna comes to this planet again in His physical..., in human form?
[18:40] [Prabhupada:] Now calculate... [break] Anyway, what is your Australian calculation? Let me know.
[18:45] [Madhudvisa:] It's true. Their billion is something else.
[18:48] [Prabhupada:] Oh. Anyway, I give you the right figure, four million, according to American or English calculation,
[18:59] 4,300,000 years, and multiply it by one thousand.
[19:07] Then? What it comes according to English calculation?
[19:12] [Paramahamsa:] 4,300,000,000.
[19:16] [Prabhupada:] That is twelve hours. And add again twelve hours, night. Then eight billion...
[19:23] [Devotees:] 600,000,000.
[19:25] [Prabhupada:] So Krsna comes after this period. In one day, after one day of Brahma, He appears.
[19:43] [Devotee 7:] Srila Prabhupada, does Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu also appear every day of Brahma?
[19:48] [Prabhupada:] Yes. Following Krsna. Krsna comes in the Dvapara-yuga. There are four periods of each yuga.
[19:57] Similarly, Krsna, after finishing His business in this universe, He goes to another universe.
[20:03] In this way the rotation takes eight million..., nine billion years.
[20:09] Just imagine how many universes are there. He stays in one universe for 125 years.
[20:17] Everything is there, calculation, in the sastra.
[20:22] Now we can imagine how many universes are there.
[20:26] That is, altogether, material world. That is stated in the...,
[20:33] athava bahunaitena kim jnatena tavarjuna, vistabhyaham idam krtsnam ekamsena sthito jagat [Bg. 10.42].
[20:42] This material creation is one-fourth creation of the whole God's property.
[20:53] And the three-fourth part is in the spiritual world. That is God. Not that cheap God,
[21:02] "I am God," in this God. We don't accept such cheap God.
[21:12] [Devotee 8:] Because you're here and all the devotees here are your disciples, Srila Prabhupada,
[21:18] eternal disciples, eternal servitors, but what if we have to take birth in the material world
[21:24] in the next life? How will we be able to render direct service unto you?
[21:30] [Prabhupada:] Yes. Even if you remain in the material... If you are not completed your spiritual life,
[21:45] "One who is failure in completing Krsna consciousness, then he is given next chance in a
[21:52] very aristocratic family or very nice, pure brahmana's family so that he can again
[22:01] cultivate Krsna consciousness next chance."
[22:09] So everything is... There is process. If you follow the process, then you go back.
[22:16] If you fall down, that is our fault. Therefore the life is meant for tapasya,
[22:25] that Rsabhadeva's instruction, that our life should not be wasted like dogs and hogs and pigs.
[22:38] It should be utilized for tapasya, for understanding our position.
[22:51] We have to purify our existence. At the present moment our existence is impurified.
[22:58] Therefore we are subjected to birth, death, old age and disease.
[23:04] And as soon as we purify ourself, then we are not subjected to these four material laws.
[23:11] Thank you very much. Hare Krsna.
