এ কেনে কহিবে কৃষ্ণের উদ্দেশ আমায় ? এ - স্ত্রীজাতি লতা, আমার সখীপ্রায় ॥ ৩৮ ॥

e kene kahibe krsnera uddesa amaya?

e-stri-jati lata, amara sakhi-praya

SYNONYMS

e-these; kene-why; kahibe-will say; krsnera-of Lord Krsna; uddesa-direction; amaya-to us; e-these; stri-jati-belonging to the class of women; lata-creepers; amara-our; sakhi-praya-like friends.

TRANSLATION

" 'Why should the trees tell us where Krsna has gone? Let us rather inquire from the creepers; they are female and therefore are like friends to us.
