তাঁ সবার নাহি নিজসুখ-অনুরোধ ।
তথাপি বাড়য়ে সুখ, পড়িল বিরোধ ॥ ১৮৮ ॥

tah sabara nahi nija-sukha-anurodha

tathapi baḍhaye sukha, paḍila virodha

SYNONYMS

tah sabara-of all of them; nahi-not; nija-sukha-for their own happiness; anurodha-entreaty; tathapi-still; baḍhaye-increases; sukha-happiness; paḍila-happened; virodha-contradiction.

TRANSLATION

The gopis have no inclination for their own enjoyment, and yet their joy increases. That is indeed a contradiction.
