STOCKHOLM
We have no qualifications to write something about such a person as Srila Prabhupada. Whatever we might note down would not come near presenting his true magnificence and personality. For us, Srila Prabhupada is everything. He is our lord and master. He is our father and friend, our sympathizer and rectifier.
The great transcendentalists take birth in the families of devotees. From their very birth the names of Lord Krsna are being sung in their presence. The great Vaisnava grow under the protection of the Supreme Lord, and when they are ready they bless the whole world with their high standard of pure love of Krsna. And then, when Krsna so desires, the devotee returns to Him to engage in His intimate eternal pastimes of pleasure.
We, with our mundane vision, can hardly have a glimpse of the magnitude of character of a pure devotee as our Srila Prabhupada. The name Prabhupada itself signified "that personality who all other great masters surrender to." Srila Prabhupada's lotus feet have become the only shelter of the world. If anyone in this world wants to get free from the inferno of material existence, he must approach the lotus feet of Srila Prabhupada through the parampara.
There is no difference between guru and Krsna in the sense that the guru is the pure representative of Lord Sri Hari. Sri Krsna is coming to us through the medium of the spiritual master. In the beginning, there was only Krsna in this universe. Then He created Lord Brahma and empowered him with transcendental vision to create the living entities and educate them about becoming Krsna conscious. Krsna gave Himself through Lord Brahma, the spiritual master in disciplic succession is Krsna manifesting Himself before us.
Then there was Narada, Brahma's son, who carried the message all over the universe. Sri Narada was especially expert at delivering the gross materialists who were attached to fruitive work. He taught them how to work in a devotional spirit and thus attain perfection, love of God.
Then there was Vyasa, the all-knowing incarnation of the Supreme Lord, who could foresee all the difficulties of the people of Kali-yuga. Out of compassion, he compiled the Vedic teachings into books. Then there was Sri Madhvacarya, the great learned leader and stalwart preacher then there was Madhavendra Puri, who introduced madhurya-rasa in the line of devotion. Then there was Lord Caitanya, who is Himself the supreme original personality Govinda. He came to earth to experience the mood of Radharani, and by so doing flooded the whole world with tears of ecstasy in pure love of Krsna.
Then there were the Six Gosvamis, whose mission it was to perfectly record and present in precious scriptures the intent and feelings of Lord Caitanya. Out of compassion, they made the intimate understanding of Lord Caitanya possible for all. Then there was 108 Om Visnupada Paramahansa Parivrajakacarya His Divine Grace Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, who took the message of the Gosvamis and carried it to the ends of the earth.
The same Krsna that inspired Brahma, Narada, and then Byasadeva and Madhva; the same Lord Gopinatha who saved sweet milk for Madhavendra Puri and who caused Īsvara Puri to experience constant ecstasy; the same Gopijanavallabha who came as Lord Caitanya and inspired Rūpa and his followers; that same Krsna fully blessed our Srila Prabhupada to present His very Self to those civilizations which had long fallen from the Vedic life.
On this Vyasa-pūja day, we bow to him who is the representation of the will and order of Sri Krsna and who is Sri Krsna's most intimate representative: 108 Om Visnupada Paramahansa Parivrajakacarya His Divine Grace Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. We prostrate ourselves before our infallible lord with tears of separation wetting our heartfelt vows of eternal servitude.
