Vyasa-Pūja Homage
O most merciful Srila Prabhupada, how can we repay the infinite debt that we owe you? Before your appearance in the West, we were forced to settle for the smallest trickle of transcendental knowledge. But now, Your Divine Grace has flooded us with the endless Vaisnava philosophy of the Vedas. Previously, we had to remain content thinking of God as an inconceivable greatness, as an abstract force who had created everything, but was indescribable and unknowable. You have revolutionized the whole theology of the West and directed countless people from all over the world toward the most secret and intimate aspect of God. As Krsna has declared:
"Whoever knows Me as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, without doubting, is to be understood as the knower of everything, and he therefore engages himself in full devotional service, O son of Bharata. This is the most confidential part of the Vedic scriptures, O sinless one, and it is disclosed now by Me. Whoever understands this will become wise, and his endeavors will know perfection." (Bhagavad-gita 15.19-20)
Therefore, because you are enlightening countless conditioned souls and are turning them towards the real light of spiritual realization, you are the most dear to Krsna:
"For one who explains the supreme secret to the devotees, devotional service is guaranteed, and at the end he will come back to Me. There is no servant in this world more dear to Me than he, nor will there ever be one more dear." (Bhagavad-gita 18.68-69)
Furthermore, Lord Kapiladeva tells His mother Devahūti: ". . .I do not find a greater person than he who has no interest outside of Mine, and who therefore engages and dedicates all his activities and all his life-everything-unto Me without cessation." (Srimad-Bhagavatam 3.29.33)
Thus, there is no finer benediction than being in your holy association, for you are fully absorbed in the loving mood of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu-sravanam kirtanam-hearing and chanting the glories of the Supreme Person, Sri Krsna. In this way you are engaging everyone in the sahkirtana movement, giving all the conditioned souls the opportunity to go back to Godhead. Thus, of all that is glorious in this world, your mercy upon these fallen souls is the most glorious.
We, however, still devoid of any real compassion, devotion or sense of duty, remain your offensive, perverted reflections. Nevertheless, because your shelter is our only salvation, we must shamefully impose ourselves on you, begging to continue in your service. And we must also pray for the pure desire to please you in that service, free from any lust for personal gain. You are the perfect acarya, following, as you say, "blindly" the instructions of your Guru Maharaja, in the face of all opposition. And in spite of our reluctance to follow your example, still you receive us to magnanimously and fill us with your mercy.
We can never repay you. You are giving us this matchless gift of love for Krsna. Please let us forever remember this gift and remain eternally obliged, fallen at your feet.
