Dear Srila Prabhupada,

Please accept our prostrated obeisances at your lotus feet. Your position of acaryadeva is to be constantly glorified, because you are the direct representative and most intimate confidential servitor of Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha-Krsna. It is stated in Caitanya-caritamrta:

guru krsna-rūpa hana sastrera pramane
guru-rūpe krsna krpa karena bhakta-gane

"According to the deliberate opinion of all revealed scriptures, the spiritual master is nondifferent from Krsna. Lord Krsna in the form of the spiritual master delivers His devotees" (Caitanya-caritamrta, Adi 1.45).

By accepting the instructions of such a spiritual master and applying them with unflinching faith, one is assured of crossing this dangerous ocean of material nescience and becoming firmly situated in the eternal sphere of spiritual varieties that constitute the jiva soul's sanatana dharma. One cannot possibly hope for advancement on this path without the guidance and blessings of the pure devotee of the Lord. Guru Krsna prasade paya bhakti-lata-bija [Cc Madhya 19.151]. The combined mercy of both guru and Krsna is required to be situated safely beyond reach of the influence of the maya potency. Srimad-Bhagavatam (11.3.21) implores:

tasmad gurum prapadyeta jijnasuḥ sreya uttamam
sabde pare ca nisnatam brahmany upasamasrayam

"Any person who seriously desires to achieve real happiness must seek out a bona fide spiritual master and take shelter of him by initiation. The qualification of his spiritual master is that he must have realized the conclusions of the scriptures by deliberation and must be able to convince others of these conclusions."

Through your books, Srila Prabhupada, you are revealing to this estranged world a vast wealth of Vedic knowledge which can actually benefit the conditioned soul and ease him out of his deplorable material predicament. To this end, Srila Prabhupada, you have devoted your transcendental energies-your mercy shines like the new sunrise dissipating the darkness. In the Vayu Purana an acarya is defined as one who knows the import of Vedic literatures, explains the purpose of the Vedas, abides by their rules and regulations and teaches his disciples to act in the same way.

We are not praying for you to shower your mercy, Srila Prabhupada-that has already been done by your compassionate grace, for you are jagad-guru. Rather, we beg for the strength, determination and enthusiasm to gather this mercy from our lowly positions and to assist you in the glorious mission of Sri Krsna Caitanya nama-sahkirtana as you benedict the entire world.

We beg to remain eternally at your lotus feet, with the dust of all Vaisnavas on our heads.
