Dear Srila Prabhupada,
O beloved spiritual master, please accept our most humble obeisances at your divine lotus feet.
It is stated in Bhagavad-gita that one must accept a bona fide spiritual master, enquire from him submissively and render service unto him, if one wants to learn the Absolute Truth.
Dear spiritual father, we are tired of this material existence and are worn out by the constant kicking of maya. In fact, we have become just like dead man. Just as a spark becomes extinguished when it falls out of the fire, so the living entity who falls out of the spiritual world and loses his connection with the Lord becomes dull and unenthusiastic.
However, the Supreme Lord Krsna is so merciful that He always wants to help us, even though we are thanklessly trying to reject Him. Therefore He has sent you, Srila Prabhupada, to reawaken us from the deep sleep of material existence. This, you are doing most successfully. You are following the example of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu by chanting the Hare Krsna maha-mantra, distributing prasada, and preaching forcefully the message of Srimad-Bhagavatam and Bhagavad-gita.
By the mercy of the spiritual master one can achieve the mercy of Krsna. Without the grace of the spiritual master, no one can make any advancement.
One should never attempt to bypass the spiritual master and think that he can worship Krsna directly. This is a very great offense. Rather, one should try to become the most humble servant of his spiritual master and take shelter of his lotus feet. One should be prepared to render any kind of service-even the most menial task-because devotional service of any kind is the most precious gift; its value cannot be measured by any material means. Thus, if the spiritual master becomes pleased, Krsna also becomes pleased, and the living entity also becomes satisfied. The pleasure of the spiritual master is the only criterion for advancement in spiritual life.
Just as Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu ordered, you are also requesting every man to take this Krsna consciousness and distribute it all over the world.
So we are praying at your lotus feet that we may be able to take this instruction to heart and make it our foremost desire, our very life and soul. Thus, begging for your mercy and protection, we will endeavor to push forward this wonderful movement, which you have so kindly created to help the conditioned souls go back home, back to Godhead.
Again and again, we offer our most humble obeisances at your divine lotus feet.
