We remember Your Divine Grace as the perfect acarya. By your words and actions, you taught us everything-how to live, how to work, how to eat, how to be clean, how to raise our children, how to surrender to Krsna, how to be happy, and finally, how to die. You became our savior, our life and soul. The few times that we were blessed with your darsana are pure, sacred memories which we will always hold deep within our hearts. Although you have left this physical universe, you cannot leave our hearts.
Srila Prabhupada, by your causeless mercy you appeared and spread Krsna consciousness all over the world. By translating Srimad-Bhagavatam, Bhagavad-gita, Caitanya-caritamrta and many other volumes, and by establishing the chanting of the holy names, Deity worship, and book publication and distribution, you have shown us the real goal of life and have given us the means to attain it. And in leaving, you gave us the greatest gift, our "burden of love": to carry on your missionary work of preaching Krsna consciousness.
By working to fulfill your mission, we are being protected from maya's infection, and conditioned souls continue to receive the mercy of Krsna. You, Srila Prabhupada, are the cloud of mercy, and your life-giving rains will continue to fall on the parched victims of the fire of material existence. We simply want to go on witnessing the showering torrents of your mercy as we distribute your books everywhere. Please empower us so that we can distribute more and more.
Every day we meet hundreds of conditioned souls who are working hard just to find a little pleasure in this material world. Just as the conditioned souls are acting under material natures' stringent laws, we (your disciples) are also acting-but under the shelter of your transcendental order: "Go and make the unfortunate souls fortunate."
By studying your books and by working to spread Krsna consciousness, we are able to realize the futile misery of trying to enjoy this material world. You have taught us to perceive the miseries of materialistic life, and thus you have made it impossible for us to return to that illusion. You have saved us, and you are continuing to save us by your unflinching mercy.
Because we are feeling the soothing shelter of your lotus feet, because we have a glimpse of your fervent desire to spread Krsna consciousness throughout the world, because we are realizing our eternal debt to you, and because we love you, we will not deviate in carrying out your order. We will not fall down and disappoint you, or concoct anything new-because we are constrained by love.
Of course, we are always feeling the temptations of material desires, but by remembering your words our minds become peaceful. You have given us too much mercy, so much service. How could we loiter any longer in this material world? Srila Prabhupada, we are simply amazed by your causeless mercy, as we feel ourselves being dragged back to Godhead. You have made us so ecstatic that we jubilantly chant and dance and want only to serve your mission of inundating the universe with such sweet mercy.
Now we are remembering your last and most urgent request: that we continue with your Krsna consciousness movement and not quarrel and fight among ourselves. Admittedly, we run up against disagreements and personal likes and dislikes. (Actually, the entire material world is in turmoil over petty disputes.) But as your disciples, we will not allow our difference to weaken us. We understand that ISKCON is your work. We are only your obedient servants, united by the desire to carry on your mission …cooperatively.
