nama om visnu-padaya krsna-presthaya bhū-tale
srimate bhaktivedanta-svamin iti namine
namas te sarasvate deve gaura-vani-pracarine
nirvisesa-sūnyavadi-pasatya-desa-tarine
On this blessed Vyasa-pūja day we cannot help but reflect on the transcendental nature of your auspicious appearance and disappearance, being as it is a manifestation of Krsna's internal energy. In our fallen condition of nescience it is difficult for us to understand that both your appearance and disappearance cannot be compared to that of any of the conditioned souls who are bound to the wheel of samsara, or repetition of birth and death and their concomitant miseries in this material world, but nevertheless it is so.
As a nitya-siddha, eternally liberated soul, you are appearing only for the purpose of executing the mission of the Supreme Lord; that is, you reawaken the nitya-baddhas, eternally conditioned souls, from their sleeping condition of eternal forgetfulness to their constitutional position as it is enjoined in the scriptures. Jivera svarūpa haya, krsnera 'nitya-dasa'. Therefore we must understand that you are not under the control of the powerful external energy. You have come to teach us how, by surrendering to the lotus feet of Govinda, we can get out of the influence of the material energy. As it is stated in the Bhagavad-gita (7.14):
daivi hy esa guna-mayi mama maya duratyaya
mam eva ye prapadyante mayam etam taranti te
"This divine energy of Mine, consisting of the three modes of material nature, is difficult to overcome. But those who have surrendered unto Me can easily cross beyond it."
You also showed us at the time of your disappearance that you were not under the influence of the material energy. This was seen when one doctor who was attending to you was completely baffled as to the regularity of your heart and pulse beat, even though you were supposed to be materially dilapidated in bodily health. This showed a direct superiority over the laws of material nature. You showed us too, how one has to live and spend his time in this material world engaging in total Krsna consciousness (devotional service), and at the time of death of the material body how one should remember Krsna and meditate on His holy names as explained by Lord Sri Krsna in the Bhagavad-gita (8.5).
anta-kale ca mam eva smaran muktva kalevaram
yaḥ prayati sa mad-bhavam yati nasty atra samsayaḥ
"And whoever, at the time of death, quits his body remembering Me alone at once attains My nature. Of this there is no doubt." Therefore, we can understand that you have gone back to Krsna in the supreme planet, Goloka Vrndavana, to associate with the Supreme Lord directly. Now we have to associate with you by following your instructions more strictly than ever before. Simply by performing sahkirtana-yajna we can resume our sac-cid-ananda state in that eternal kingdom of God, and thus we will be able to meet with you there again.
You are so mercifully allowing unqualified and lowborn fools like ourselves the opportunity to assist you in your mission. You are showering your mercy on all the conditioned souls by leaving a vast amount of pure spiritual literature, especially Srimad-Bhagavad-gita, Srimad-Bhagavatam and the Caitanya-caritamrta. Just like the monsoon clouds that pour torrents of rain everywhere without any discrimination, you have similarly showed us how to distribute these great literatures all over the world, so that the entire human society may benefit from them. This is your desire. But as your disciples we must consider ourselves especially fortunate to have been awarded the opportunity to assist you directly in some way or other in your eternal mission to reclaim all the fallen souls back home, back to Godhead. We pray that you engage us eternally as your menial servants in distributing more profusely your books. This book distribution is your chief desire and chief means of spreading Krsna consciousness all around the world. We beg you to forgive all the offenses that we have committed at your lotus feet while you were physically here with us and all that we might commit in your physical absence. You have said that you are eternally present in your instructions, so we can also understand that we can attain perfection by following strictly your instructions, which are the same as yourself. Therefore we thank you for especially empowering and blessing these eleven confidential disciples, who have now become spiritual masters by your grace, also the GBC representatives of ISKCON and all other bona fide disciples passing on your divine instructions in the strict disciplic succession. In this way you have given us the assurance that the blessed Krsna consciousness movement that you started will be continued until the whole of the planet earth is changed into a Vaikuntha planet in this Age of Kali.
