Geneva
Gurudeva,
Harassed by uncontrolled senses,
Haunted by mental speculation,
my heart remains a barren earth,
unfit to receive your seed of Krsna-prema.
You bravely declare any land fertile;
Undauntedly you plow away the rocks
and water the parched cracks
of my insignificant life.
Eternal master,
You have brought Sri Caitanya's blessing
to such remote and useless spots as my heart,
Still reaping the fruit of eternal service
to Govinda's lotus feet.
You are empowered to bring all bewildered souls
back to home, back to Godhead,
and though bereft of all merit
I humbly implore Your Divine Grace
to permit this worthless creature
to assist you.

SB 1.1.22
For countless aeons we have languished in this world of chimera, enthralled by maya's embrace. We have all but forgotten the lotus feet of Govinda, the primeval Lord. Had Your Divine Grace not intervened in the bleak and miserable wasteland of our life, the seed of devotional service to Lord Krsna would never have been sown.

Srila Prabhupada, you are the Supreme Personality of Servitor Godhead because only through your confidential service to Lord Krsna has our journey through myriad sinful activities and their reactions been checked and krsna-bhakti enshrined. You have uplifted such foolish scoundrels as ourselves, and therefore, you too are patita-pavana. We remember having accompanied Your Divine Grace on a morning walk during which your silence was punctuated by the rhythmic tapping of your cane on the ground. While we were hoping to capture your merciful glance, you suddenly turned on us and stated a Sanskrit sloka. the only word of which we could understand was mleccha. You then lapsed again into a long silence before revealing the meaning of your quotation. "You are all mlecchas, "you said tersely, "but by the grace of a pure devotee you have become Vaisnava." And then you did give us a merciful glance.
Vaisnava thakura tomara kukkura boliya jana. The pure devotee is thakura, as good as God Himself because he can deliver God to all manners of men. Therefore, we simply pray to become your kukura, or dog. Our qualities being nonexistent, we could never have reached you, Srila Prabhupada, but Your Divine Grace being boundless, has nonetheless reached down to us. You have filled our body with vigor, our mind and intelligence with raja-vidya, and our heart with prema. We shall never be able to repay the awesome debt that we have incurred to you. Canakya Panḍita declares that no amount of riches can ever repay one word of the spiritual master's instructions. Nevertheless, we implore you to give us the steadfastness to do your bidding so that we may begin to try. We pledge our life to your exalted mission of bringing Lord Caitanya's nama-sahkirtana to every town and village.

You have often affirmed that you have given us everything-the holy name, the Srimad-Bhagavatam, Deity worship, Krsna prasada-and that it is now simply up to us to preach extensively and tell everyone enthusiastically about Krsna. Kindly grant us the strength to follow in your footsteps, whatever the condition of life in which Krsna may deem fit to place us.
On this most auspicious day of your divine appearance in this world, Srila Prabhupada, we address you with all the humility that we can muster and wish to reaffirm the vows which we made to you in front of the fire, the mūrtis, and the assembled devotees at the time of our initiation. Let us constantly remain your menial servants, for we have no refuge outside your lotus feet.
