Somehow we have gotten the association of a pure devotee of the Lord. He has no faults, he makes no mistakes, his vision is spotlessly pure and he is willing to guide us on the path of eternity. We are blind, of course, but even in this bewildered condition we can see that he is no ordinary saintly man. He is not a guru as they are found now, cheaply in the market, but by his symptoms he is a fully realized soul. With perfect intelligence he leads us, patiently training us in the endless subtleties of Krsna's service, introducing us with such cautious discretion into the assembly of Krsna's intimate association. His mercy cannot be described. The swanlike man has no business in the places where men like us abide. He has no taste for the animal existence which intoxicates our polluted consciousness. And yet he walks among us, speaks to us, accepts our offerings which even men of lesser stature scorn, and remains without quitting the monumental task of reclaiming those who have sunk so low.

In the revealed scriptures there are many recommendations given by the twice-born men of paths leading to the ultimate goal of human life. And there is some conflict as to which of the recommended systems is the best for purifying one's heart. But there is no confusion about the association of these great souls, the pure devotees of the Lord. It is conclusive in all scriptures that one cannot attain success without the association of these men. There is simply no other way.

So, somehow we have gotten the association of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. The revealed scriptures do not boast a more glorious or merciful soul than he. We pray that we may surrender everything we have to him without petty reservation. The debt he has created in us by extending his mercy is fathomless. There should be no talk of business or bargaining. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
