Dear Srila Prabhupada,
No one can understand the activities of a pure devotee of the Lord. The nature of his appearance and his pure motive which forms the basis for his every expression are a mystery to the common man. Like the Supreme Lord, Sri Krsna, you appear differently to different people according to their different mentalities. Kamsa saw Krsna at Mathura in the wrestling arena as death personified. And to Mustika and Canūra He was exactly like a thunderbolt. To the people in general He appeared to be the most beautiful personality. For Nanda and Yasoda He was the most loving child, and to the yogis He appeared as the Supersoul. For the research scientist Your Divine Grace is a boot in the face. For the self-made gods and gurus you are the real standard whose character the Vedic scriptures sing of. To the scholars you are in a class of your own; honorary degree, Ph.D … they are forced to appreciate. Amongst the pure devotees you stand out as the full moon. To the Kali-yuga statesmen and politicians you are impeachment personified, as your words expose their cheating mentalities. For the people in general, you are the only hope. Only you can save them. For your Guru Maharaja, you are his pride and joy. You have carried out his instructions and thus we can all know you for what you are. You are the most dear to Krsna. You have given us entrance into the sahkirtana movement of Lord Caitanya. You have foregone all self-comforting and come to the West to preach the message of Lord Caitanya. By your mercy only we are all engaged in this glorious mission.
You are a mystery to the common man, but the secret has been disclosed. You have revealed your pure mind and mission in your Bhaktivedanta purports. Thus everyone can know you as the Supreme Personality of Servitor Godhead and simultaneously know Krsna the Supreme Personality of Godhead served. You are nondifferent from your books, and by taking the essence from them to preach Krsna consciousness, to preach your glories, I am coming to know your heart. It is melted by love of Godhead, and from your heart compassion for all of Krsna's parts and parcels is pouring out. Srila Prabhupada, you know and love me. Although I am fallen and my heart is full of material dirt, please engage me in your transcendental loving service and cleanse my heart. I want to make it a temple where you will always reside. When all the dirt is cleansed away by your instruction, and I am free from lust and greed and can always think of you, that will be perfection. Then I will sit down and hold a great festival.
