Hamsadūta Swami
My dear Srila Prabhupada,
Please accept my most humble obeisances at your divine lotus feet. For reasons of your own, you chose to bestow all your blessings on this poor soul and depart from sight. Whatever you have established you left in the hands of your faithful and confidential disciples. At least officially, I am also counted as one of them. This is a great wonder to me.
Srila Narada Muni got the chance to see the Lord face to face, but as suddenly as the Lord appeared before Narada, again He disappeared, thus leaving Narada heartbroken in a vacant world. Out of your causeless mercy Your Divine Grace appeared among us and forced us to open our eyes by the power of your spiritual knowledge. No sooner were our eyes getting the glimpse of your lotus feet, when you vanished, leaving us heartbroken and vacant in this material world. This is a great tragedy, at the same time Your Divine Grace is present in your devotees and books, and thus your mercy is being carried in every nook and corner of the world by your pure devotees. Therefore you are simultaneously absent and present in the world; thus it is tragedy and bliss together, and we have somehow survived your disappearance.
In a short time you gathered your devotees from all corners of the world under the ISKCON banner. It was not a luck-chance happening, but a deliberate transcendental reunion, a society of pure devotees organized to bring transcendental knowledge to this dark forgotten world. We are your eternal devotees, and in your absence we are left behind here, working to continue what you started only twelve years ago, namely a Krsna conscious world. However, as Your Divine Grace showed us by example how to give up the material body, we will also follow and give up the material body. At that time, because we are your surrendered servants, we will immediately go to you, and again you will attract our minds and hearts to you, and thus we will be meeting and separating again and again. I do not know what I am, except that I am your devotee and follower life after life. Please accept me like that; don't let me stray away.
