My dear Srila Prabhupada,
At your bedside, seeing you humbler than the straw in the street, our envy and offenses were reduced. We became unified in our desperate plea for your health. We felt helplessly out of control by your refusal to respond to our efforts. We learned the difference between love and artificial sentimentality by your acceptance of our devotion and unswerving indifference toward our alloyed shows of affection.
By your purity you made us aware of our well of poisonous offenses. By your courage we understood the meaning of abhaya carana. By your grace and mercy you gave us hope, while showing us the enormous gap between our consciousness and the absolute reality.
You are our eternal teacher and master. Through the lila of your disappearance you are so much more with us every day. I humbly bow to your lotus feet again and again.
