prayascitta puchila tinho panditera gane
tanra kahe,-tapta-ghrta khana chada' prane
SYNONYMS
prayascitta—atonement; puchila—inquired; tinho—he; panditera gane—among the learned scholars or brahmana-panditas in Varanasi; tanra kahe—they advised; tapta-ghrta—hot clarified butter; khana—drinking; chada'-give up; prane—your life.
TRANSLATION
When Subuddhi Raya consulted the learned brahmanas at Varanasi, asking them how his conversion to Mohammedanism could be counteracted, they advised him to drink hot ghee and give up his life.
