Dear Srila Prabhupada,
Please accept our most humble obeisances at your lotus feet. Every morning we are rising very early to take bath, apply tilaka to the body and attend mahgala-arati. And we sing:
samsara-davanala-liḍha-loka-
tranaya karunya-ghanaghanatvam
tranaya karunya-ghanaghanatvam
The material world is compared to a revolving wheel of birth and death, samsara, and we fallen souls of this world of birth and death are stated to be seated on a machine made of material energy, yantrarūḍhani mayaya (Bg. 18.61), traveling from one body to another, one species to another, enjoying or suffering according to our karma:
dehino 'smin yatha dehe
kaumaram yauvanam jara
tatha denantara-praptir
dhiras tatra na muhyati
kaumaram yauvanam jara
tatha denantara-praptir
dhiras tatra na muhyati
"As the embodied soul continually passes, in this body, from boyhood to youth to old age, the soul similarly passes into another body at death. The self-realized soul is not bewildered by such a change." (Bg. 2.13) The word dehinaḥ refers to those who are embodied. These bodies are destined to suffer disease, old age and death, and then after death we must again me stuffed in another womb to be bitten by tiny worms, living in our own stool and urine, and doubled over for want of more space. In these ways we are suffering miserably. Therefore the material world is likened to a blazing forest fire of birth and death, samsara-davanala-liḍha-loka.
But in Sri Vrndavana Dhama, the Supreme Lord Sri Krsna displayed His wonderful pastimes with the cowherd men and women, full of eternity, knowledge and unlimited bliss, just to attract the conditioned souls captivated by the illusory enjoyment of the material world. And from that transcendental land of Vrndavana one of the Lord's most confidential servitor has come directly empowered by Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, because without the mercy of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu no one can spread Krsna consciousness all over the world. He began to preach sanatana-dharma, the eternal occupation of the soul, loving service to Krsna, the all-attractive Supreme Personality of Godhead. Now we can see the practical result. From all over the world-America, Canada, Mexico, Brazil and the rest of South America, London, Paris, Iran, Spain, India, Africa, Australia, Japan and China-people are surrendering their lives and becoming devotees of Krsna. What other person has started with forty rupees and in ten years established an international society for God consciousness with centers in every major city in the world?
Now by the grace of that confidential servitor we have been given the opportunity to visit and live in the wonderful land of Sri Goloka-Vrndavana, where the very dust is worshipped by great sages, due to its having been touched by the beautiful lotus feet of Krsna. And this pure devotee of Krsna has also established a beautiful temple of Krsna and His brother Balarama on this land, in the very place where Their lotus feet pressed into the ground as They played with Their cows and cowherd boyfriends in the forest of Raman Reti.
That person is none other than Your Divine Grace Om Visnu-Pada Paramahamsa Parivrajakacara Astottara Sata Sri Srimad A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, founder-acarya of the great International Society for Krishna Consciousness. By your grace one can cross over the miseries of the material world and obtain the mercy of Krsna. Therefore, we at the Sri Krsna-Balarama Mandira, Raman Reti, Vrndavana, India, humbly offer our respectful obeisances to you, falling on the ground at your lotus feet. The lotus feet of our spiritual master are the only way that we can attain pure devotional service, You are the ocean of mercy, the friend of the poor and the lord and master of the devotees. Give us the shade of your lotus feet. Your fame is spread all over the three worlds.
Praying this meets you in good health,
