SANTO DOMINGO
"According to the deliberate opinion of all revealed scriptures, the spiritual master is nondifferent from Krsna. Lord Krsna in the form of the spiritual master delivers His devotees" (Caitanya-caritamrta, Adi 1.45).
Dear Srila Prabhupada,
In the Vayu Purana an acarya is defined as one who knows the import of all Vedic literature, explains the purpose of the Vedas, abides by their rules and regulations, and teaches his disciples to act in the same way. Only out of his immense mercy does the Personality of Godhead reveal Himself as the spiritual master. And now that transcendental professor of spiritual science has become none other than you. We just cannot understand your exalted position.
"O my Lord! Transcendental poets and experts in spiritual science could not fully express their indebtedness to You, even if they were endowed with the prolonged lifetime of Brahma, for You appear in two features-externally as the acarya and internally as the Supersoul-to deliver the embodied living beings by directing them how to come to You."
Since once cannot visually experience the presence of the Supersoul, He appears before us as a liberated devotee. Such a spiritual master is none other than Krsna Himself. It is not possible for a conditioned soul to directly meet Krsna, but if one becomes a sincere devotee and seriously engages in worshiping you, that thing becomes possible.
It is the conclusion of all sages and scriptures that you should be considered to be directly the Supreme Lord because you give transcendental knowledge for enlightenment. And it is our great fortune that now we have become your disciples without really knowing your divine position. That is your kindness and mercifulness.
However, unfortunately, without the potency to realize what you have given to us, we, being greedy and driven by senses due to our strong bodily desires, have become hesitant and irreverent to your orders. That is the way of the conditioned souls. Therefore, at this time we are humbly begging you one more time to kindly excuse us for all these offenses, and please keep us always protected from the influence of maya under your divine lotuslike feet.
