Dear Srila Prabhupada,

We fall at your lotus feet, for in this dangerous jungle of material life your association provides the only sanctuary for our depraved and crippled selves. Before coming to Krsna consciousness, although having for ages been dulled by the spell of maya and devoid of all sense of well-being, we were nevertheless looked up to by our fellow mlecchas and yavanas as having some good qualification. In actuality, however, we were completely ignorant of any distinction between good and bad, happiness and distress, right and wrong, pleasure and pain, and were all marching obliviously towards the darkest, most hellish regions of the universe. Then you checked our ill-fated course and saved us from millions and millions of births of suffering in hell:

sri-guru karuna sindhu,
adhama jarara bandhu,
lokanatha lokera jivana

"Our spiritual master is the ocean of mercy, the friend of the poor, and the lord and master of the devotees."

uadeksyanti te jnanam
jnaninas tattva-darsinaḥ

"The self-realized soul can impart knowledge unto you because he has seen the truth. (Bg. 4.34)

You are the real guru. Your words are not simply cheap boasts or the concocted fantasy of some pretender. You are always displaying your qualification by showing us the reality if a personal God and the blissful transcendental realm as it is described in the scriptures, and by giving us this sahkirtana movement which spreads factual realization of the spiritual realm. You are fulfilling the prediction in the Srimad-Bhagavatam that the Krsna consciousness movement will transform every town and village all over the world. What demons dare to deny your superexellence?

Association with a pure devotee is rarely achieved. We are such fools, however, that we have barely accepted a minute fraction of your mercy. And because this reluctance prevents us from properly qualifying as your devotees, we know that it is only by your unlimited magnanimity that we have been able to continue in your service. Realizing our deficiency, we pray to you for the power to relish and broadcast the glories of the Lord, and to effectively heed your repeated warnings of present and forthcoming danger within this material world. We also beg to be able to execute this service with a pure heart, free from all offenses, which only serve to hinder your divine mission and waste your precious time.

Independently, we can do nothing, for we can barely see beyond our own senses, what to speak of understanding how to best engage the entire universal population at Krsna's lotus feet. Thus, in full cooperative association, we must take complete shelter of your perfect direction and vision. Only through this unified effort, free from all selfish motivation, can we hope to be instrumental in the successful execution of your plan. In this way, the whole world will have facility to develop a feeling for that loving transcendental mood that we so conspicuously lack and that you so perfectly display. Praying at your lotus feet for forgiveness for our innumerable offenses, we remain...
