Dearest Srila Prabhupada,

Please accept my obeisances and prayers. As you must know, some devotees are exceptional, while others are neophytes struggling for devotional service. I am a devotee of this second type. Along with your disciple Vinahara dasa brahmacari, I have been sent far, far away from the mainstream of devotees and I feel a bit stranded without their association. Sometimes we joke that this is ISKCON Alcatraz, where sinful devotees are sent. For myself, I may explain to you that my character reference is summed up very nicely in Srila Bhaktivinoda's prayer "O Gopinatha." I pray that by your mercy, in order to fulfill the desire of Lord Caitanya, all of us can become as qualified as you would like us to be. Our only business is to represent you, and that task is very difficult. As your greatness is unfathomable, so, as a conditioned soul, my stupidity and foolishness is of equal measure. It is your greatness alone that has make this movement a success. Since we have been in Mauritius, tens of thousands of people have heard our kirtana and chanted the holy name. We are teaching everyone the Hare Krsna mantra and Nitai-Gaurahga! Now, as we walk down the streets, the little children shout, "Hari Bol, Nitai-Gaurahga!" and we feel the bliss of the name. We are very lucky preachers to have found such a receptive audience. I think that if you give us your mercy and keep us always preaching for Lord Caitanya, maya will never catch up to us, and you may be proud to call us your servants.
