In the human form of life, our consciousness provides a unique opportunity. Unlike our conscious and semi-conscious brethren, the fishes, reptiles, birds, beasts and plants, we possess the aptitude for examining the involvement of our consciousness with that which is not compatible with the self.

Philosophy and religion as well as the sciences and arts, while not embraced by all men, are the exclusive pursuits of consciousness enveloped in the human form. He who embraces the opportunity to scrutinize his position exhibits a rare vivacity. His concern is aimed at truth. If he is serious, he is given guidance towards the attainment of his goal by the direct mercy of the Supreme Truth Himself, Sri Krsna.

Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead is confirmed in the Sri Isopanisad as the proprietor and controller of all that be, animate and inanimate. In the Brahma-samhita Krsna is glorified as the cause of all causes. It is Krsna's potency alone which can deliver the conditioned living entity from the suffering generated by his involvement in material existence.

In the Bhagavad-gita, Krsna is therefore called Mukunda, the giver of liberation. And it is by His kind direction, not by the puny efforts of our quibbling, measuring and judging, that we achieve a view of the Absolute Truth and gradually learn to abide in concert with Him. The conditioned living entity has imperfect senses and his mind is prone to mistakes and cheating. So he will not find it possible to extricate himself from his suffering by means of such fallible equipment. Even though they are confronted by disease, old age, birth and death, many will go so far as to deny that they are suffering.

The limitations of material involvement can be overcome only by accepting the help of Krsna's special agent of mercy, the spiritual master, who appears in the line of disciplic succession authorized in the revealed scriptures. Such a spiritual master should be offered the rapt attention of all sincere aspirants to blissful, eternal and fully conscious spiritual life.

Taking shelter of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, we, the foolish materially encumbered spiritual parts and parcels of the Supreme All-Love, Sri Krsnacandra, can be free to take up the primary constitutional function of all His parts who may be either in or beyond the limits of time and space-to serve Krsna favorably with no reservations.

Pride and envy have plunged us into the depths of the painful, illusory struggle for material happiness. Pride bars us from admitting the possibility of one who is above our scrutiny and judgment, and envy prods us to viciously plot the ruin of anyone better than ourself. These two enemies must be exorcised and no other weapon is fit for the task save the fine-edged scalpel of transcendental knowledge in the expert, benevolent hands of the 'sadhu' or spiritual master.

May all good men embrace the purifying influence of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada who has appeared in the disciplic succession from Sri Krsna, Lord Brahma, and Sri Krsna Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Srila Prabhupada is offering to deliver to whoever is sincerely thirsty the nectar of the conscious relationship between the parts of Godhead and Godhead himself, Krsna. To effect this deliverance we are encouraged to take up the Hare Nama sahkirtana, the congregational chanting of the Hare Krsna mantra, and to adhere to the guidance of the authorized message of the past great teachers of the disciplic line from Lord Brahma. By association with topics of Godhead love for Krsna blossoms in the heart. Let all good men take up association with him whose only business is to glorify Godhead in all his words and deeds.

Now and again, in the midst of devotees taken to the chant of Hari, there appears one who is never covered by maya (illusion). He is to be called Srila Prabhupada or one to whom even great men naturally surrender. May we take shelter of the lotus feet of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada 108.
