Gurukula

Gurukula
"Children at the age of five are sent to the gurukula, or the place of the spiritual master, and the master trains young boys in the strict discipline of becoming brahmacaris. Without such practice, no one can make advancement in any yoga, whether it be dhyana, jnana or bhakti." (Bhagavad-gita purport, Chapter 6, verses 13-14).
All glories to the divine lotus feet of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, our divine loving father, who has so mercifully benedicted us with the awe-inspiring gift of training these great souls according to his divine instructions. We are always feeling foolishly inadequate to perform such an auspicious service. Devotional service at Gurukula is an ocean of purification.
These children are the immense potential of the future. All day long they are vibrating Srimad-Bhagavatam slokas, chanting Hare Krsna, dancing, eating prasadam, learning Deity worship, cleaning-being trained up in the yuga dharma: bhakti yoga.
"Lord Caitanya said that a teacher should behave properly even before he begins teaching. One who teaches that way is called acarya, or the ideal teacher…. The teacher cannot manufacture rules against the principles of revealed scriptures… The king or the executive head of a state, the father and the school teacher are all considered to be natural leaders of the innocent people in general. All such natural leaders have a great responsibility to their dependents; therefore they must be conversant with standard books of moral and spiritual codes."
Sahkirtana is constant here; at every moment we are evidencing by our actions the example the children will follow. Mercifully, we have the example of Your Divine Grace towards which to direct them. Constantly they mirror our weakness and pettiness of character, forcing us to strive harder to achieve a better example, forcing us to become convinced, forcing us to become Krsna conscious. Mutually we are all growing together. Surely their growth will outstrip our own. To serve the lotus feet of these devotees, whose preaching will revolutionize the consciousness of the planet, is unknown, immeasurable pleasure to anyone save yourself and the devotees who are relishing its nectarine taste. It's like a great and thrilling secret: here in Dallas, Texas are the future saviors of the planet by Your Divine Grace.
To play even a small part in their flowering fills the devotional heart with satisfaction and gratitude. There is no way we can ever properly express our eternal indebtedness to Your Divine Grace for this tapasya, which is giving us such pleasure. Here are the student offerings:
Dear Srila Prabhupada.
om namo bhagavate Vasudevaya

Please accept my fallen obeisances. You are so merciful you have taken us up from this dark well of material existence. I am lower than a straw in the street. You are giving us this knowledge. I am so fallen-please forgive me. You are so dear to Lord Krsna. You have blinded us to this material world and have given us the real knowledge. You are taking the dust from our hearts. You are so merciful to everybody.
Your servant,
Dvarakadisa dasa
My dear Srila Prabhupada,
Thank you for coming to Gurukula. If you did not come we would not be good devotees. You, A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami, Srila Prabhupada, have come to this bad place. The only thing you are trying to do is follow your spiritual master. I offer my respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet of my spiritual master, who is so dear to Krsna. If we just follow Prabhupada then we can become like him.
Prabhupada's servant,
Bhaktin Christina
I offer my respectful obeisances at the lotus feet of my spiritual master His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.
Thank you for coming and delivering me from the outside. Actually you were playing with Krsna but because you had some compassion towards us conditioned souls you came to teach us about Krsna. You are the most merciful. I am the most fallen. I am nothing but a dog. But you Srila Prabhupada are everything. You are so merciful that you have sent me to Gurukula.
Your fallen servant,
Bhaktin Lisa
I offer my respectful obeisances unto my spiritual master, who is trying to get us back home, back to Godhead. I am so fallen. I am praying for you to pick me up out of the ocean of ignorance and darkness. I am so low that I am lower than the lowest animal on the lowest planet, but I am really lower. I offer my respectful obeisances unto my spiritual master a trillion times. You are doing your best to fulfill the desire of your spiritual master, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Gosvami Maharaja. I offer my respectful obeisances unto your lotus feet.
Your servant,
Bhakta Shawn
