Let us offer our unconditional homage to the lotus feet of our Gurudev and eternal preceptor, Om visnu-pada Paramahamsa Parivrajakacarya Sri Srimad Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaja Prabhupada, whose appearance in this mundane sphere in the quintessence of Lord Sri Krsna's grace. There is no other cause of our Gurudev's advent other than the Absolute Godhead's benevolent desire to pluck His hapless children out of the raging vortex of conditional life. Therefore, let us realize that our spiritual master's mission is ever untinged by temporary necessities, that it is unmistakably linked to the immutable will of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Sri Krsna.
For incalculable eons, the living entity is nurtured on the bewildering modes of nature and is being washed away by the waves of birth and death, jatasya hi dhruvo mrtyur dhruvam janma mrtasya ca (Bg. 2.27). His voyage through bodies, time and space, so artfully facetted, allows him not the slightest suspicion of his unseemly predicament. His itinery, unknowingly projected by his own forgetfulness of Sri Krsna's divine love and service, is a wearisome gauntlet that never seems to tire him, its faithful runner.
Our Gurudev has come to boldly proclaim that such is not our true birthright. It is the death shroud of futile existence, srama eva hi kevalam. He is therefore proffering the reality of our spiritual life-Krsna consciousness.
The seed of divine love and service which the munificent Lord Sri Krsna cast into the heart of Brahmaji was given, in turn, to Narada, and then to Vyasa and Madhva, until it again reached the self same seed-giving Father in His effulgent form known as Gaurahga, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. It was received by the six Goswamis of Vrindavana-dhama whose sole aim was to establish the eternal religious principles for the universal benefit. Then that divine seed reached Thakura Bhaktivinode, and he planted it into the ear of His Divine Grace Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura. Its next recipient was our own Acaryadeva, His Divine Grace Om Visnu-pada Paramahamsa Parivrajakacarya Sri Srimad Bhaktivedanta Goswami Maharaja Prabhupada. All the representatives of this Gauḍiya Vedanta sampradaya have declared that it is every persons right to accept Krsna consciousness and devotional service. With abiding faith in the previous acaryas and undeviating adherence to the sastras, our spiritual master has single-handedly brought Krsna consciousness within the purview of the entire world. By attracting even the most fallen souls, such as ourselves, to the line of service drawn by his Guru Maharaja, Srila Prabhupada has demonstrated that the devotee can purify himself in any condition of life. This is confirmed in the Bhakti-Rasamrta-Sindhu where it is states that it is not possible to commit more sinful activities than the offenseless chanting of the Hare Krsna mantra can purify. Therefore, the bona fide spiritual master is always engaged in delivering the Holy Name of Krsna to the ignorant class of men. Were it not for our Gurudev's compassion on the plight of the world, the Holy Name surely would not have adorned our lips.
On this Vyasa Pūja day, the appearance of our Lord and master, Srila Prabhupada, let us meditate how fortunate souls, devoid of compassion and staggering in the darkness of material inebriety, might gain access to the Hari-nama movement of Lord Caitanya. Many years ago, Srila Bhaktivinode Thakura claimed that one day, from all corners of the planet, devotees would assemble at Yogapitha, Sri Dhama Mayapura, and would circumambulate the birthplace od Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, their tongues ringing "Jaya Sachinandana, Jaya Sachinandana." That this has just come to pass was only Srila Prabhupada's grace. That somehow we are being a party to the fulfillment of the prophecy of the acaryas is only Srila Prabhupada's grace. That our lives may one day become perfect in Krsna's service through the Samkirtan movement will only be Srila Prabhupada's grace.
Oh, Srila Prabhupada, our only fear is that material ambition may deny us that service to your holy lotus feet. Our redeemer, please bless us that we may become strong and pure and thereby aspire uninterruptedly after Lord Caitanya's samkirtan which you have so kindly extended to us.
Thus pray your most ignoble servants,
Guru Gaurahga dasa brahmacari / Dayamrgya dasa brahmacari / Sahkasa dasa brahmacari / Jayantakrd dasa brahmacari / Bhakta Jean Christophe dasa / Bhakta Oliver dasa / Bhaktin Catherine dasi / Bhaktin Maria dasi
