FIJI
If the World Only Knew
If I climbed upon the rooftops, would the people come to know?
If I screamed from the tallest building, would they hear me below?
That the greatest living being, most dear to Lord Krsna,
has put down his cane,
And left this world no sooner than he came.
Not one soul knew where he had gone
Nor any a man what he had done.
The Vaisnava devotee's footsteps moved swiftly over our head
And the dust that fell kept the bhaktas well fed.
The Lord's mercy was manifest as Srila Prabhupada
The prolific transcendentalist churned a library on God
I ate one sloka and a taste was acquired
So sweet to the ears
That I never grew tired.
Your nectarean mercy fills our sacred Mandira
Yet selfish as I am I have refused my peer
Though he wallows in a cistern of foul-smelling pleasure
I hesitate to save him from the hell no one should endure.
Would that I had compassion upon these fallen souls
As Srila Prabhupada did grant to so many poor fools
To preach, to teach, to move out on the town
With Gita, Bhagavata and hari-nama all around.
Door-to-door, house-to-house, shop-to-shop
Sriman Mahaprabhu's sahkirtana will never stop
For wherever there is Krsna the master of all mystics,
And wherever there is Srila Prabhupada, the supreme acarya,
There will also be opulence, victory, extraordinary
power and morality.
Vasudeva dasa-GBC, and the devotees of Kaliya-Krsna
