The Messenger
Behold a messenger of Godhead comes-HE HAS COME, HE HAS COME!!
The most cherished prize of life this messenger has won
And he's giving it out freely for all those who are sincere.
He does not ask you for blind following, he requests you lend an ear,
And he'll fill you up with nectar and he'll tell you of the love
That is pouring, falling freely from that vast abode above,
Where truth is never challenged and all souls accept the fate,
Eternal service unto Godhead, golden key to opened gate…
Beyond Viroja's river span in the Mahat-tattva cloud,
Devotees run and play with He of all good qualities endowed.
They are happy in that land of bliss having never left His side,
What do they know of the wretched place where you and I abide?
….the pit, the sewage trench where each soul rots in death,
Awaiting Maya's morbid messages, succumbing to her baited breath.
Of all jivas, one quarter dwell from Krishna torn apart,
Fools embracing heartaches cannot know the heart of all hearts.
Thus Krishna sent our Prabhupada to come and save us all,
Like frogs who listen for the thunder, we should listen for his call.
As the frogs begin to croak when agitated by the clash,
We should agitated complacent tongues to chant, and to his feet should dash!
"Chant Hare Krsna and be happy" is the sublime request he makes,
Of highest bliss this paramhamsa or swan-like soul, partakes.
This-the same eternal teaching Narada gave Dhruva and Prahlada,
Is now presented as it is for those who yearn for love of God.
"Chant Hare Krsna and be happy," such a small request,
Yet just a meager handful come forward to pass the master's test.
Oh, fickle, cruel world, why hast thou waited for to hear?
Are there only a small number of you who are at all sincere?
The same words of truth our master gives were also given long ago,
There is no flashy innovation, no gaudy spectacle or show.
The same message, the same words printed 'pon a million leafs…
Distributed into your hands, but is it that you lack belief?
….that a soul as great as he could have descended from afar,
Can you not accept it that the moon outshines the brightest star?
Or have we, as his disciples, failed to present it as it is?
Oh, world, is this the excuse you use to continue with the way you live?
Forget the pock marks that can't mar the beauty of the brightest moon.
World! Can't you see you'd better listen and change your habits soon?
Despite your pittances of piety, Death has his noose about your neck;
But chant the Hare Krsna mantra and generations you'll protect!
Chant this Hare Krsna and realize an honest Vaisnava's life,
Of devotion, joy, fulfillment and freedom from all sorts of strife.
Chant and see the valued lesson in realizing "I'M the fool."
Hear the message of the Bhagwat, Vyasadeva's effulgent jewel.
…And the brightness of its luster more and more will shine within
As the hearing of its nectar releases one from an eternity of sin.
May His Grace be with us that this message will be heard in every
Scottish town,
And that all souls in the Scottish lands will come forth to spread
the holy name around!
This pray most humbly,
The devotees of YOUR gigantic ISKCON Edinburgh, Scotland
