As we rode along the highway, we watched the world-houses, cars, parks and stores-race in a blur past the open window. Each door and fenced garden, carefully manicured vine and creeper slipped by, leaving only faint impressions on our observing minds. And like dreams, they slipped into obscurity, amidst the maze of similar impressions.

In contemplation, we watched, and thought how our lives, to this point, consisted of so many similarly valueless and now dreamlike incidents. The hopes and aspirations of youth, childhood and infancy with their seeming clarity and concreteness, and the depth of parental and familial relationships, their substance now spread thin in the shallow reminiscence of our maturity, have shattered, leaving only hazy, broken and scattered remembrances. We were thinking that we have found no tangible forms and could not search out the point of our lives. Disease and the invalidity of old age lurked just beyond our youthful life, and we had nothing to show for the years we had already spent. Still, in stunned apathy, we idled our time, seeing no recourse to our aimless existence.

Into the darkness of this fallen age came His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Because his vision is illuminated by the divine message of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, he speaks the eternal truth. With relentless courage and determination he has taken up the mission of Srila Bhaktivinoda, broadcasting, with perfect clarity and without the slightest distortion, the timeless wisdom of the Vedas. History can boast no great soul than this. To such a bona fide spiritual master we offer our most humble obeisances, falling at his feet in awe.
