Dear Srila Prabhupada,
Our position is so precarious because although we are completely ashamed of our fallen condition we still grab for the stick of desire. We are always trying to become happy within this material world but this is like trying to be happy in a forest fire.
It was not possible to understand any of this before we came into your pure association, Srila Prabhupada. Searching for someone with truth was like an old blind man asking some rougue for guidance and the rascal takes the opportunity to lead the blind man to an open well and then plunder him.
In such a world there was no one to trust until, somehow or other, we heard the nectar about Lord Sri Krsna coming from your lotus mouth.
As Rūpa Gosvami has stated:
ataḥ sri-krsna namadi
na bhaved grahyam indriyaiḥ
na bhaved grahyam indriyaiḥ
"We cannot conceive the name, form and quality of Sri Krsna through our own material senses." Thus the only way it is possible to make any spiritual advancement along this path of knowledge and realization is by coming into contact with a pure devotee like you, Srila Prabhupada.
You are described as niskincana-one who has no material desire to enjoy this material world, but moreover you are atmarama, which means that you have no desire other than to engage in devotional service. Therefore our prime realization is:
vina mahat pada-rajo 'bhiskam
One cannot attain perfection without smearing the dust from the lotus feet of an exalted devotee on his head.
We pray to remain fixed in remembering our greatest fortune, which has been the appearance and activities of Your Divine Grace.
On this day, Srila Prabhupada, your disciples of your Costa Rica Mandira beg that you always allow us to take shelter of your association and instructions. We offer our danḍavats at your lotus feet.
