ISKCON—New Vṛndāvana

Of the heavenly city in America,
Of the importation of the eternally new,
Of the lotus-decked land of Krsna, Vrndavana,
Of the happy land of peacocks, kadamba trees, ferns, lakes, cows,
Of Their Lordships Radha-Krsna,
Of New Vrndavana and its advent in these Western hills,
Of these, the gifts of Your heart, O Spiritual Master,
We chant and glorify.

Community, brotherhood, nature, love-once vapors, dreams-
These You have concretized and embedded
In the reality of service at His feet.
Now nirvana's blown out, liberation's kicked away
By the beautiful feet of the Boy of Vrndavana.
You gave us His picture and told us His name
And said, "Yearn for Him and be happy.
Serve Him and love Him, and build villages and temples for Him."

Seven temples You have planned on Govardhana,
Temples rising from the grassy hills and tulip trees,
Pinnacles to the clouds, the Deities' abode,
In celebration of the lovely cowherd Boy.

Cows on the hills, their bells ringing, their serene lowing,
Cows dozing, whishing the flies with their tails,
Cows staring, chewing, ambling their paths to the fresh grasses,
Lotus-eyed cows, lovely elegant ladies,
Fat, pregnant cows, brimming with milk,
Docile, calm, gentle cows, Krsna's cows,
Your cows, Srila Prabhupad,
Happy in New Vrndavana, free from the hands of the butchers,
Free from Kali's bloody hand, from his merciless knives.
O that we could save them all! Round them all up and bring them here
To serve their milk in New Vrndavana.
Cows for Krsna! Acres for Krsna! Land! Grains! Cows!
O let's restore the earth for Him!

Poor earth, poor cow we've always kicked and beaten!
Milk for Krsna! The earth itself for Krsna!
The same old rolling, copious, generous earth,
Transformed, transfigured by His smile, His words,
Into spiritual land, into a new Vrndavana.
Lift us, O great Master, to Thy visionary heights!
One song! One scripture! One God! One work!
Hare Krsna! Bhagavad-gita! Krsna! Vrndavana!
The earth for Krsna! The worlds for Krsna! Our hearts for Krsna! Now!
Grant us to serve as midwives to Your dream,
To build anew with all eyes turned to Him,
To erect temples, hamlets, cities, nations,
To forge materials into real spirituals,
In tribute to Him You love, in consciousness of Him.
