1995-6 The Śrīla Prabhupāda Centennial

1995-6 The Srila Prabhupada Centennial
In 1995 preparations began for the Srila Prabhupada Centennial. One of the petals of the Centennial was to try to contact and involve all devotees initiated by Srila Prabhupada. To this end Pancaratna Prabhu engaged one Indian gentleman to create a database from Mahamaya's disciple book. This was done and Mahamaya proofread the database. Mahamaya contacted devotees in many countries to check on the devotees in their country to see if there were devotees who were left out of the disciple book. There were face-to-face meetings, email correspondence, and examination of Srila Prabhupada's letters. This became an ongoing project. On the Chakra.org website lists of 50 names at a time, were posted of the "unknowns" asking that devotees respond and send in their knowledge of who they knew and whether they knew of these devotees. From these endeavors, some 800 names were added to the database.
Just recently Lokanatha Maharaja and Praghosa Prabhu presented a resolution to the GBC to continue this project and it passed unanimously, a rare event in GBC resolutions.
