राजा दुहितरं प्राह कृतपादाभिवन्दनाम् ।
आशिषश्चाप्रयुञ्जानो नातिप्रीतिमना इव ॥ १९ ॥

raja duhitaram praha

krta-padabhivandanam

asisas caprayunjano

natipriti-mana iva

raja-the King (Saryati); duhitaram-unto the daughter; praha-said; krta-pada-abhivandanam-who had already finished offering respectful obeisances to her father; asisaḥ-blessings upon her; ca-and; aprayunjanaḥ-without offering to the daughter; na-not; atipriti-manaḥ-very much pleased; iva-like that.

TRANSLATION

After receiving obeisances from his daughter, the King, instead of offering blessings to her, appeared very displeased and spoke as follows.
