तमूचुर्विस्मितास्तत्र यजमानमथर्त्विजः ।
हवींषि हूयमानानि न ते गृह्णन्ति देवताः ॥ २६ ॥

tam ucur vismitas tatra

yajamanam athartvijah

havimsi huyamanani

na te grhnanti devatah

tam-unto King Aṅga; ucuh-said; vismitah-in wonder; tatra-there; yajamanam-to the institutor of the sacrifice; atha-then; rtvijah-the priests; havimsi-offerings of clarified butter; huyamanani-being offered; na-not; te-they; grhnanti-accept; devatah-the demigods.

TRANSLATION

The priests engaged in the sacrifice then informed King Aṅga: O King, we are properly offering the clarified butter in the sacrifice, but despite all our efforts the demigods do not accept it.
