finding [via mother]

Show notePrabhupada: That is not the denied. Dinosaur you may not have seen; it may be existing some other... Neither I have seen the 8,400,000 different species of, different forms of life. But my source of knowledge is different. Your source of knowledge is different. You are experimenter with imperfect senses. I am taking from the perfect who has seen, who knows things. Therefore my knowledge is perfect. Just the same example: I am receiving knowledge from my mother, "Here is your father," and you are trying to search out where is your father. You don't go to the mother, but you are searching out. So therefore however you may search, your knowledge always will be imperfect.
(More...) So don't believe your so-called senses as the source of knowledge. No. The source of knowledge should be by hearing. That is called sruti. Therefore Vedas' name is sruti. Sruti-pramana, sruti-pramana. Just like a child or a boy wants to know who is his father. So what is the evidence? That evidence is sruti, hearing, from the mother. Mother says, "He is your father." So he hears; he does not see how he became his father. Because before his body was constructed the father was there, now how could he see? So by seeing, you cannot ascertain who is your father. You have to hear from the authority. The mother is the authority. Therefore sruti-pramana: the evidence is hearing; not by seeing. Seeing... Our imperfect eyes... There are so many obstacles. So similarly, by direct perception you cannot have the truth.
(More...) "Your eyes should be the sastra." There is another crude example. Just like who is your father? How to understand? Through the vibration of the mother. The mother says, "He is your father," you accept it. Otherwise there is no experiment. So things which are beyond your perception, beyond your defective senses, that should not be speculated. Na tams tarkena yojayet. Acintya khalv ye bhava na tams tarkena yojayet. These are the injunction. What is beyond your perception, beyond your speculation, don't waste your time, so-called argument and logic. What is argument? Mother says, "He is your father." Where is the argument? You cannot apply any argument.
