[00:30] [Pradyumna:] [leads chanting of synonyms] ...kalam-the eternal time;
[00:35] isanam-the Supreme Lord;
[00:39] anadi-nidhanam-without beginning and end;
[00:46] vibhum-all-pervading;
[00:49] samam-equally merciful;
[00:53] carantam-distributing;
[00:57] sarvatra-everywhere;
[01:00] bhūtanam-of the living beings;
[01:06] yat mithaḥ-by intercourse;
[01:11] kaliḥ-dissension.
[01:14] Translation: "My Lord, I consider Your Lordship to be eternal time, the Supreme Controller,
[01:20] without beginning and end, the all-pervasive one. In distributing Your mercy,
[01:25] You are equal to everyone. The dissensions between living beings are due to social intercourse."
[01:35] [Prabhupada:] In the Bhagavad-gita Krsna says exactly the same thing. This is explained by Kunti, a devotee.
[01:51] The same thing is spoken by the Lord Himself:
[01:56] samo 'ham sarva-bhūtesu na me dvesyo 'sti na priyaḥ,
[02:11] God cannot be partial. That is not possible. Everyone is God's son,
[02:24] so how God can be partial to one son and better than the other son?
[02:31] That is not possible. That is our mistake. We write, "We trust in God," but we make discrimination.
[02:50] If you trust in God, then you must be equally kind and merciful to all living entities.
[03:01] That is God consciousness. So Krsna says that "I have no enemies, neither I have got friends."
[03:16] Na me dvesyo 'sti na priyaḥ.
[03:18] Dvesya means enemy. We, we are envious of our enemy and we are friendly to our friends.
[03:30] So Krsna is absolute. Even He appears to be inimical to some demon,
[03:42] actually He's friend. When a demon is killed, that means his demonic activities are killed.
[03:55] He becomes a saint immediately. Otherwise, how he's promoted immediately to the brahma-jyoti?
[04:04] All these demons who were killed by Krsna, they immediately merge into the brahma-jyoti, nirvisesa.
[04:14] The only difference is, of course, the brahma-jyoti, Paramatma and Bhagavan,
[04:23] they are one. Vadanti tat tattva-vidas tattvam . That is one truth,
[04:30] Absolute Truth, in different features only. Brahmeti paramatmeti bhagavan iti sabdyate.
[04:41] Originally Bhagavan, His plenary representation is Paramatma, who is situated in everyone's heart.
[04:59] The plenary portion, Ksirodakasayi Visnu, He is in everyone's heart.
[05:10] That is Paramatma. And... Brahman, Paramatma and Bhagavan. The ultimate issue is Bhagavan.
[05:25] So, ye yatha mam prapadyante. Now, He's equal to everyone.
[05:35] It is up to the devotees, or persons who are trying to understand the Supreme Absolute Truth.
[05:46] According to their capacity of understanding, the Absolute Truth, God, is revealed
[05:56] either as impersonal Brahman or localized Paramatma or Bhagavan. It is up to me.
[06:07] The same example as I have repeated many times: Just like we see sometimes the hills from our room.
[06:16] Here there are many hills in Los Angeles, but they are not distinct.
[06:23] When you are seeing the hills from a distant place, it looks like something cloudy.
[06:32] But if you go still further towards the hill, you'll distinctly find that there is something, hill.
[06:41] And if you come to the hill, then you'll find so many persons are working there,
[06:47] so many houses are there; there are streets, motorcars, everything, all varieties.
[06:54] So similarly, when one wants to know the Absolute Truth by his teeny brain-
[07:05] "I shall make research to find out the Absolute Truth"-then you'll have vague idea, impersonal idea.
[07:19] And if you become a meditator, then you will find that God is situated within your heart.
[07:36] The yogis, the real yogis, they, by meditation, they see visnu-mūrti within the heart.
[07:48] And those who are devotees, they meet the Supreme Person face to face, just like we are meeting face to face;
[07:57] talk face to face, serve directly. The Supreme Personality of Godhead orders that
[08:08] "You supply me this," and he supplies. That is the difference.
[08:14] So samo 'ham sarva-bhūtesu.
[08:17] He's equal to everyone. Now it is up to you to understand Him according to your capacity.
[08:28] So Kunti also says the same thing in this verse: samam carantam sarvatra.
[08:40] Samam carantam. Carantam means moving. He is moving everywhere, outside,
[08:49] inside. Simply we have to make our eyes clear to see Him.
[08:59] That is devotional service: to make our senses purified to perceive the presence of God.
[09:11] God is present everywhere. Antar bahiḥ. Antaḥ means within and bahiḥ means without.
[09:22] "Those who are less intelligent, they simply try to find out God within,
[09:30] and those who are advanced in intelligence, they can see You within and without."
[09:39] That is the difference.
[09:42] Meditation is meant for the less intelligent class of men.
[09:49] Meditation means you have to control the senses. Yoga practice means yoga indriya-samyama.
[09:57] Our senses are very restless.
[10:01] By yoga practice, by, I mean to say, practicing different asana, so mind is controlled, the senses are controlled.
[10:14] Then we can concentrate upon the form of Visnu with our heart.
[10:23] That is yoga system. Or those who are too much in bodily concept of life,
[10:33] for them the yoga system is recommended, practicing the bodily exercise,
[10:41] and find out the Supreme Lord within the heart.
[10:47] But bhaktas, those who are devotees, who are still more advanced,
[10:56] they don't require to control their senses separately,
[11:01] because to be engaged in devotional service means controlling the senses.
[11:12] Suppose you are engaged in worshiping the Deity, in cleansing the room, in decorating the Deity,
[11:21] in making foodstuff for Deity, everything nicely. So your senses are already engaged.
[11:30] Where is the chance of your senses being diverted? The senses are already controlled.
[11:45] Bhakti means simply to engage the senses in the service of this master of the senses.
[11:54] Hrsikesa means master of the senses, and hrsika means senses.
[12:02] So now our senses are engaged for sense gratification.
[12:10] Sarvopadhi, upadhi yuktaḥ. So I am this body, so I must satisfy my senses.
[12:21] This is the contaminated stage of life. But when one comes to the understanding that
[12:30] "I am not this body; I am spirit soul, part and parcel of God,
[12:35] so my senses, spiritual senses, should be engaged in the service of the Supreme Spiritual Being,"
[12:47] that is wanted.
[12:49] That is mukti. Mukti means hitva anyatha-rūpam.
[12:56] When we are conditioned, we give up our original, constitutional position.
[13:05] Our original, constitutional position is, as Caitanya Mahaprabhu says,
[13:16] Our original, constitutional position is that we are eternal servant of Krsna.
[13:24] So as soon as we employ ourself in the service of the Lord, immediately we become liberated.
[13:31] Immediately. There is no question of passing through some process.
[13:39] This very process, to engage oneself, engage one's senses in the service of the Lord, means he is liberated.
[13:51] So this liberation is open for everyone. Samam carantam. Krsna does not say that
[14:00] "You come to Me, you become liberated." No. He's open for everyone.
[14:12] He speaks to everyone. Not that He's speaking to Arjuna only. He's speaking to everyone.
[14:19] Bhagavad-gita is spoken not only for Arjuna. Arjuna is the..., just like the target.
[14:25] But it is spoken for everyone, for all human being. So one has to take advantage.
[14:32] Samam carantam. He's not partial, that "You become..." Just like the sunshine. The sunshine is not partial, that
[14:46] "Here is a poor man, here is a low-class man, here is a hog.
[14:52] I shall not distribute my shining there." No. Sun is equal. One has to take advantage of it.
[15:02] The sunshine is there, open, but if you close your door, if you want to keep yourself in airtight darkness, that is your business.
[15:15] Similarly, Krsna is everywhere. Krsna is for everyone. Krsna is ready to accept you as soon as you surrender.
[15:28] Samam carantam. There is no restriction. Krsna says,
[15:39] They make distinction, that "This is lower class, this is higher class." So Krsna says,
[15:45] "Even lower class, so-called lower class, it doesn't matter. If he takes to Me,
[15:52] then he's also eligible to go..., come back to home, back to Godhead." Samam carantam.
[16:01] And He's the eternal time. Everything is going on within the time.
[16:11] The time... Our time calculation is past, present and future. This is relative.
[16:19] The other day we were discussing. This past, present, future is relative term.
[16:27] The, for a small insect, the past, present and future is different from my past,
[16:35] present and future. Relative term. Similarly, Brahma's past, present and future is different
[16:44] from my past, present and future. But Krsna has no past, present and future.
[16:53] Therefore He's eternal. We have got past, present and future
[16:59] because we change this body. Now we have got this body...
[17:05] It has got a date. In such-and-such date I was born by my father and mother.
[17:15] Now this body will stay for some time. It will grow. It will produce some by-product.
[17:24] Then it will become old, then dwindle, then vanish, finish. No more this body.
[17:33] You accept another body. This body's finished. The history of this body,
[17:37] past, present and future, finished. You accept another body.
[17:42] Again your past, present, future begins.
[17:48] But Krsna has no past, present, future, because He does not change His body.
[17:56] That is the difference between ourself and Krsna.
[18:02] Just like Krsna spoke to Arjuna that "In the past, I spoke to the sun-god about this philosophy,
[18:11] Bhagavad-gita." So Arjuna could not believe it. Arjuna knew everything,
[18:21] but for our..., our education, he put this question, that "Krsna, we are contemporary.
[18:27] We are born practically in the same period. How can I believe that
[18:34] You spoke this philosophy to the sun-god?" And the reply was that
[18:40] "My dear Arjuna, you were also present there, but you have forgotten. I have not forgotten.
[18:48] That is the difference." Past, present, future, for persons who forget.
[18:56] But who does not forget, who remains eternally, there is no past, present, future.
[19:05] Therefore, Kunti is addressing Krsna as eternal. Manye tvam kalam.
[19:17] And because He is eternal, isanam, He is full controller. Kunti says manye,
[19:27] "I think." By the behavior of Krsna, she could understand that Krsna is eternal,
[19:33] Krsna is the supreme controller. Anadi-nidhanam. Anadi-nidhana.
[19:43] There is no beginning, there is no end. Therefore vibhum. Vibhu means the Supreme,
[19:55] the greatest. Vibhu. We are anu, we are the smallest, and Krsna is the biggest.
[20:06] Krsna is also, because we are part and parcel of Krsna,
[20:11] therefore Krsna is both the smallest and the biggest.
[20:17] We are simply smallest. But Krsna is both. Krsna, vibhu, greatest means all-inclusive.
[20:30] In the great, if you have got a big bag, you can hold so many things. In small bag you cannot do that.
[20:40] So Krsna is vibhu. He includes the time-past, present, future.
[20:47] He includes everything, and He's everywhere. That is vibhu. Vibhu, all-pervading.
[20:57] Krsna is everywhere. Anḍantara-stha-paramanu-cayantara-stham.
[21:01] In the Brahma-samhita it is said that Krsna... Because without Krsna, the matter cannot develop.
[21:11] The scientist, the atheist scientist, they say that life comes out of matter.
[21:17] That is nonsense. No. Matter is one energy of Krsna, and spirit is another energy.
[21:30] The spirit is superior energy, and the matter is inferior energy. The matter develops when there is superior energy.
[21:43] Just like this country, America. The same America was two hundred years ago,
[21:50] three hundred years ago, the land, but it was not developed.
[22:00] But because some superior living entities from Europe came here, now America is so much developed.
[22:08] Therefore the cause of development is the superior energy.
[22:17] The inferior energy, there are so many vacant land lying still, just like in Africa, Australia.
[22:25] They're called "undeveloped." Why undeveloped? Because the superior energy,
[22:32] living entity, has not touched it. As soon as the superior energy, living entity, will touch it,
[22:44] the same land will develop so many factories, houses, cities, roads, cars, everything, as we can develop.
[22:54] Therefore the conclusion is that the matter cannot develop out of itself.
[23:02] No. That is not possible. The superior energy must touch it.
[23:10] Then it will be, will active. There are so many machines. That is matter, inferior energy.
[23:20] Unless a operator comes to touch the machine, it will not act.
[23:26] First-class motorcar, very costly motorcar machine, but unless a driver comes,
[23:36] it will stand for millions of years there. There is no use. This common sense is lacking.
[23:47] The matter cannot work independently unless the superior energy, living entity, touches it.
[23:57] This is common sense. So how these rascal scientists say that life develops from matter?
[24:07] No. How it can be concluded? There is no such instances. They falsely say that...
[24:15] They do not have sufficient knowledge.
[24:20] So these universes, they have also developed on account of Krsna's presence.
[24:31] Therefore Brahma-samhita says, anḍantara-stha-paramanu-cayantara...
[24:37] They are studying now atoms. So many things are going on, electrons, protons. Why?
[24:44] Because the Krsna is there. This is really science. So Krsna has no past, present, future.
[24:55] He is eternal time. He has no beginning. He has no end. And He is equal to everyone.
[25:03] Samam carantam. Simply we have to prepare ourself to see Krsna, to understand Krsna.
[25:11] That is the business of Krsna consciousness.
[25:14] Thank you very much.
