The Scientific Basis of Krishna Consciousness

Often during morning walks Srila Prabhupada would ask me to protest against the atheistic presentations of science, in particular Darwin's evolution theory, by writing a book. He said that we must challenge the materialistic theory that "Life Comes From Matter" by presenting the Vedic view that "Life Comes From Life," that Krishna is the original source of everything. Based upon the ideas that I got during morning walk conversations with Srila Prabhupada, I wrote a book called the "The Scientific Basis of Krishna Consciousness" as an offering to Srila Prabhupada on his Vyasa-pūja celebrations in 1973. Srila Prabhupada was extremely pleased with this offering and he would often show it to visitors with pride saying that it has been written by a scientist.

"Svarūpa Damodara has already written one small booklet, 'Krsna Consciousness, Purely on a Scientific Basis.' So this is the business of big, big chemists and physicists to present the real fact in Krishna consciousness. Then such education is valid." [Letter to Niranjan das, May 21, 1973]

"Our Svarūpa Damodara, Doctor, Ph.D., he was defeated three times, four times daily and then he is now writing book 'Scientific Basis of Krishna Consciousness.' You see? And I was not a scientist. He was a Ph.D., but I talked on the basis of Krsna assets. That's all." [Morning Walk, Bombay, April 16, 1976]
