Go Traveling Around the World

The initial idea about scientific preaching, that came through morning conversations, was that we must present the science and philosophy of Krishna Consciousness among the colleges and universities around the world. Srila Prabhupada said that both Dr. Rao and I should go and present lectures in all colleges and universities around the world. Dr. Rao at that time was already in India. Around the end of 1970 he had become so inspired by Srila Prabhupada that he had left his job in America and had gone to his native city of Gorakhpur to start a temple there. He was also working at the University of Gorakhpur. Srila Prabhupada therefore suggested that Dr. Rao should take leave of absence from the university for some time, and both of us should go traveling around the world as soon as possible.

"You and Dr. Rao just make a combination, world-touring. I shall give you all expenditure. You go to the universities, scientists, talk with them. Our kirtanaparty will also go." [Morning Walk, Los Angeles, May 2, 1973]

"I have asked Svarūpa Damodara to invite Dr. Ramananda Rao to come and join him to present this revolutionary theory to the learned advanced scientists." [Letter to Niranjana das, May 21, 1973]

Srila Prabhupada said he will arrange all our travel expenses and he instructed Karandhara Prabhu who was then temple president in New Dwarka to meet all our requirements for college preaching. I was communicating with Dr. Rao in Gorakhpur and Srila Prabhupada was also writing to me asking when we were starting. But, due to Dr. Rao's engagement in the University and my involvement with Ph.D. we could not begin at that time. We were very new and we didn't know how to start, although some conception for what needs to be done was already there.
