Bhaktivedānta Gurukula and Institute for Higher Studies

Soon after the programs in Bombay I went back to US. I wanted to publish some monographs that were being prepared by the Institute scientists. Around the month of May, however, Srila Prabhupada was not well, and all the GBCs were called to Vrndavana. At that time Srila Prabhupada was always speaking about the Bhaktivedanta Institute. He said that this Bhaktivedanta Institute will increase the prestige of ISKCON, and it is the most important preaching arm of the society, and that it must be conducted very nicely. One day he called me to his washroom and started speaking to me while rinsing and face and mouth. "You should establish a branch of the Institute here in Vrndavana. The Gurukula will be more prestigious if the Institute is added. The name of the institution here in Vrndavana should be 'The Bhaktivedanta Gurukula and Institute for Higher Studies' and you should be the Director of that."
