Early Buddhist philosophers, themselves impersonalists, used the term purusa-vadi (Skr. personalist) in reference to the Vedic worshipers of the Mahapurusa (the Supreme Person). In Western philosophy, personalism is often used as a synonym for relativism. Srila Prabhupada used the term in the absolute sense, referring it only to the worship of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, not to the worship of demigods, humans or human ideals.
