She had received a mantra from Durvasa Muni that she could call any deva and conceive children. In her innocence she called Surya, the sun-god and conceived Karna. She was forced to abandon the child out of fear of her relatives. Karna was then raised by Adhiratha and Radha. He fought against the Pandavas and was killed by Arjuna in the battle of Kuruksetra.
