One should utilize this day for fasting and increasing one's devotion to Lord Sri Krsna by intensifying their chanting of the Hare Krsna mantra and other devotional activities. Next: Ekalavya-the son of Hiranyadhanus, the King of the Nisadhas. He approached Drona to learn the science of archery, but was refused because of his low birth. He later built a deity of Drona and thus learned the science of archery. However, Drona did not approve of this process and asked for his thumb as daksina. Ekalavya submitted and cut off his thumb. He then found he did not have the same skill as before. Ekalavya was latter killed by Lord Sri Krsna.
