maha-bhagavata haya caitanya-gosani
ei kali-kale visnura avatara nai
SYNONYMS
maha-bhagavataa great devotee; hayais; caitanya-gosaniLord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu; eithis; kali-kalein the Age of Kali; visnuraof Lord Visnu; avataraincarnation; naithere is not.
TRANSLATION
"Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu is certainly a great, uncommon devotee, but we cannot accept Him as an incarnation of Lord Visnu because, according to sastra, there is no incarnation in this Age of Kali.
