matta-hasti-gana tane yara yata bala
eka pada na cale ratha, ha-ila acala
SYNONYMS
matta-hasti-ganathe strong elephants; tanestarted pulling; yara yata balawith whatever strength they had; eka padaa single step; na caledoes not move; rathathe car; ha-ilawas; acalastill.
TRANSLATION
The strong elephants pulled with all their strength, but still the car remained at a standstill, not budging an inch.
