sahasradi purna haile, ange kate rekha"

sankhya lagi'-for counting; dui-hatein two hands; anguliteon the fingers; lekhamarking; sahasra-adione thousand times; purna hailewhen finished; angeon the body; kate rekhamakes a mark.
TRANSLATION
"He counted the chants on the fingers of both hands, and after he had finished chanting one thousand times, he would make a mark on his body."
