সংখ্যা লাগি' দুই-হাতে অঙ্গুলীতে লেখা ।
সহস্রাদি পূর্ণ হৈলে, অঙ্গে কাটে রেখা ।।" ৫৭ ।। ॥ ৫৭ ॥

saṅkhya lagi' dui-hate aṅgulite lekha

sahasradi purna haile, aṅge kate rekha"

SYNONYMS

saṅkhya lagi'-for counting; dui-hate-in two hands; aṅgulite-on the fingers; lekha-marking; sahasra-adi-one thousand times; purna haile-when finished; aṅge-on the body; kate rekha-makes a mark.

TRANSLATION

"He counted the chants on the fingers of both hands, and after he had finished chanting one thousand times, he would make a mark on his body."
