তুমি কাজী,-হিন্দু-ধর্ম-বিরোধে অধিকারী ।
এবে যে না কর মানা বুঝিতে না পারি ॥ ১৭৪ ॥

tumi kaji,-hindu-dharma-virodhe adhikari

ebe ye na kara mana bujhite na pari

SYNONYMS

tumi-you; kaji-the magistrate; hindu-dharma-the religious principles of the Hindus; virodhe-in opposing; adhikari-have the right; ebe-now; ye-that; na kara mana-you do not forbid; bujhite-to understand; na pari-I am not able.

TRANSLATION

"As a Mohammedan magistrate, you have the right to oppose the performance of Hindu ceremonies, but now you do not forbid them. I cannot understand the reason why."
