Prabhupada: I thank you for coming here and participating in our International Society for Krsna consciousness movement. "Namaskar".

You have heard this and you will be happy to hear more about the topics of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. He had some expectation, He had some desires.

Supreme Lord's desire or expectations are all bound to be true. Those are never false. We may desire many things, but they may not be fulfilled. But the supreme Lord's desires or His pure devotee's desires are always sure to be true. Fulfilled. Those desires never remain unfulfilled.

Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, one Nimai of Nadia, had desire: "Prithivite ache yala nagas adi gram. Sarvatra prachas haibe more nama: His desire is supremely powerful. And after His disappearance, three hundred years later, Sripad Bhaktivinode Thakur, who is the founder of Mayapur dhama, also wished that whole world, together with the Indians, will dance in the Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's sankirtana in the love of Godhead. He was a devotee, a pure devotee, and an acarya. Now you are witnessing that his desire and Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's desire, are now being fulfilled.

Chaitanya Mahaprabhu had one more desire: "Bharat bhumite manusya janma haila yara, janma sasthaka kari karo paro upakara." Those who have gotten human bodies in India… He is not saying about the animals, those who have taken human birth, because they can understand the topic of the Supreme Lord. Who can understand this except human beings? If we invite the dogs and jackals to hear the discussion about the Supreme Lord and request to sit them here quietly; can they do it? They can not do it. But men can do it. Because human life is rarely achieved. Prahlad Maharaj said: "durlabham manusam janma tad api adhruvam arthadam."

This human life is not an ordinary life, very rare. Why is it so rare? We get human form of life after wandering many many years. durlabham manusam janma tad api adhruvam arthadam. He said, the human form of life is temporary. Why? Dogs and jackals live 10 to 20 years. Man lives 100 years maximum. Everybody has to die one day. That's why he is saying adhruvam. Adhruvam apy arthadam. A man can achieve the actual value of human life, although it is temporary.

What is that actual value to be achieved? Arthalabha? Today the actual value of human life is not being taught anywhere in the world. People think that to earn 2 crore, 4 crore rupees is the actual value of human life. No. The real meaning of arthalabha or actual value of human life is to achieve the actual goal of human life. The real meaning is that, we are wandering through the 8.4 million kinds of life, within the material world. Each living being is doing the same thing. Thus brahmanda bhramite kono bhagyavan. We are not only wandering through different bodies, but also different planets. There are different types of planets; bhuloka, bhuvurloka. Janaloka. Mahaloka, tapoloka, tala, atala, vitala, patala, etc. We have to wander among these planets according to our pious and impous activities. Adhruvam gacchanti sattva-stha-those who are associating with the mode of goodness, karanam guna-sanga sya sad-asad-yoni-janmanu. Due to association with the material modes, we get good or evil amongst various species. Material nature has three modes, satvaguna, rajaguna, and tamoguna. Material nature is giving birth to us according to our association with the material modes. Prakriteh kriyamanani sarvasah. Like this we are transmigrating from one body to another body and also from one planet to another planet. This is going on. But this knowledge is not being given to anyone. I have traveled the whole world, not 1 or 2 but 5 or 6 times. Everewhere I went, I saw: that people are busy thinking only, "What we will eat? When will we sleep? Where will we live? Like this." There is no college, school, university that educates people about the actual value of human life. None at all. None at all anywhere.

Once I have received an invitation from M.I.T. in Boston. There I asked them, "Where is the department in your college that can fix the human body, when it stops working? Just like a machine breaks down, we can fix it, so it can work again. Do you have that kind of technology? For instance, when a car is out of petrol or some part is broken down, then we can take the car to the mechanic to fix it, or if we fill up petrol, then the car can run again. But why does it not happen in the case of human, animal or any living being? Where is that technology? There I actually asked them that question and the students listened to me very attentively. After that they all asked me many questions. So this technology is not available anywhere in the world.

However, we understand this from Bhagavad-Gita. Dehino'smin yatha dehe kaumaram yauvaram jara. Tatha dehantara-praptir dhiras tatra namuhyati. There is the word dehantara, the changing of the body. that is even within this body [lifetime] we are getting different bodies. Exactly in the same way, after leaving this present body, we will receive another body. It is not at all difficult to understand.

A small baby is born from a mother. We were all born like that, you and I but where is that body now? The small body, the way we were born is already perished. After that we had many different bodies, we had a body of a little boy, body of a young man and now the body have become an old body. The different bodies are passing way, one by one. There we will get another body after the passing way of this present body what is the difficulty in understanding that? An intelligent man can understand this... "once I was a little boy in the lap of my mother! I still remember this when I was just six month old, I was in the lap of my elder sister, and I was watching knitting something. That small body has been changed, but I remain. It is a fact that after leaving this body I shall get another body. What is the difficulty in understanding that?

Therefore it is said, he who can understand this... who can understand this? He who has taken birth in the family of actual human being, he will understand this. It is said: durlabam manusam janma. Prahlad Maharaj is saying durlabham manusam janma tadapy adhruvam arthadam this body will perish one day. like the bodies of dogs and jackals. This body also will be destroyed. But we can achieve the real value of human life, as long as the body is alive. Tad apy arthadam.

He who achieves the real value of the human life before death, is known as a brahmana, and he who is not achieving the real value of lif e before death, is known as krpana, miser. Vedic scriptures say that etad viditva yah prayati sah brahmana. Et ad aviditva yah prayati sah krpana. Why is he known as krpana or miser? Just like a miser can not utilize his wealth properly, he only sees his money in the vault where he keeps it. He can not utilize the money properly. On the other hands, an intelligent man, if he inherits one lakh rupees from his father, he turns it in to ten crore rupees. He is an intelligent man Like this he who never tries to attain the Supreme Lord in the human form of life, he is a miser, and he who endeavors to attain the Supreme Lord, he is a brahmana. This is the only difference between a brahmana and a sudra. Nothing else. Brahma janati iti brahmana. Those who do not know Brahman-are sudra. And those who know the Brahman-are known as brahmana.

Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu said prithivite acche yato nagaradi gram. Sarvatra prachara haibe more nama. His name-that means, if we understand, who Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is-Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is none other than Krsna. Sri Krsna chaitanya Radha Krsna nahe anga. He is the combined form of Rahd and Krsna. The goswamis have scrutinizingly studied everything. Radha Krishna pranayavikriti ahladini sakti asmat. Ekatmanou api bhubipura dehabhedou gatoie tou chaitanyakhyam prakatamadhuna tat dwayam cha aikyam aptam Radhabhavudyuti.

So Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is the combined form of Radha and Krsna. Those who are devotees of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and have studied the scriptures, they know that Chaitanya Mahaprabhu who is Krsna Himself mercifully-Srila Rupa Goswami said that namo mahavadanyaya Krsna prema pradayate, krsnaya Krsna-chaitanya namne gaura-tvise namah.

Srila Rupa Goswami, who was one of His confidential devotees, understood, "You are most magnanimous avatara, mahavadanyavhara. Why? There are so many other avataras. No. Even Krsna Himself is not as magnanimous. Lord Sri Krsna has revealed Himself as God. After explaining everything He stated: sarvadharman praityajyamam ekam saranam vraja. Sri Krsna has made a condition: "Abandon everything and completely surrender unto Me." Aham tvam sarva papevyo moksayisyami. Lord Krsna has made a condition while Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is distributing love of Krsna Krsna prema without making any condition. Therefore He is mahavadanyaya. The Goswamis have said: namo mahavadanyaya Krsna prema pradayati. That is because love of Krsna, Krsna prema is not an ordinary thing. Manusyanam sahasresu kascid yatati siddhye yatatam api siddhanam kascin mam vetti tattvatah. Out of many thousands among men, one may endeavor for perfection. What is that perfection? That is asthadam-what is the factual duty of human life? The factual duty of human life is that we have forgotten God-we can revive our relationship with God by discussing Him. Therefore it is said arthadam. But present day education says, "Give up the idea of God." Let everything go on without God. Even the government also says, "we are secular state." Do not chant the names of God. Do not sing the names of God. Forget about these things. Just work hard like an ass and go to sleep by eating 2 chapatis. That's all. This is being taught. But the scriptures says, human life is not meant for hard work like hogs and donkeys for sense enjoyment. But human beings are getting that kind of education. Just like a man is pulling a rickshaw-pik-pik-this is not meant for man, this is for an ass. Yes. These things are being taught. Work very very hard and be satisfied by eating 2 chapaties. Donkey. Donkey. Why is it said like an ass? Because an ass works very hard whole day. What does he do? He carries the load of clothes of a washer man How much? Like 2 tons of load. The ass can not even move. But not a single piece of clothing is his, and after once he reaches the washing ghat, he simply stands there. The washer man washes clothes all day there and he gives a little grass to the ass to eat. After eating that he just simply stands to take back all the loads again in the evening. If he thinks, "I am an ass, and I am carrying the load of the washer man for a little grass-I can have little grass anywhere without doing this." Why am I doing hard work?" But the ass lacks the kind of intelligence-that's why he is an ass.

This world is making everyone a worker. Karmi. Do very hard work. After doing hard work go home in the evening and by eating 2 chapattis go to sleep. That's all. But he does not understand that, "I am earning so much money but I am eating only 4 chapattis." I can have 4 chapattis wherever I go, then why am I working so hard for that? He does not have that intelligence. If he is requested, "Sir please hear Hari katha," he will reply, "No sir. I do not have time for that." Not at all. Why? That I have to work hard like an ass. That's why the scriptures says nayam deho deha-bhajan nr-loke kastan Kaman arhate vidbhujam ye. That human life ayani deha-aside from human life, there are so many types of bodies-dog's body, jackal's body, but ayam deha nr-loke-the body we have receive as human being-that is not like that. Na kastan Kaman. What is Kaman. Kaman means for the body there are 4 activities-eating, sleeping, mating and defending, to keep this body. The body has some demands. We have to eat, we have to sleep, we need a place to sleep and we have to gratify our sense. A man needs a woman and a woman needs a man. We have to keep some money for safety. The scriptures says those 4 principles of material life, eating, sleep, mating and defending are same also for animals. Animals also eat, sleep, have some place to live, have mates and also produce children and ultimately die. So why should we work so hard for these things only? These things are available very easily in the animal's life or bird's life. Which bird does not eat? Does not sleep? Does not mate? Or does not have fear? For these so much hard work?

Prahlad Maharaja said, "mayasukhaya bharram udvahato vimdhan". Prahlad Maharaja said to Lord Nrsimhadeva, "O Lord, I do not have any fear for the Lord of Death, naivodvije para duratyaya-vailaranyas. People are afraid of what may happen after death, and what may not happen-like this. I am not afraid of anything like this. Why are you so fearless? Tvad-virya-gayana-mahamrta-magna-cittah. I do not have fear for material existence, because by singing your glories, which are full of ptencies-I have become completely happy. Actually it is anandamvudhi vardhanam.

Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu said, "Actually for he who chants the holy names of the Lord Hari and for he who sings the glories of the Supreme Personality of Godhead-anandamrudhi-the ocean of happiness is ever increasing." He does not have any fear. But you seem to be worried. Why are you so worried? So Prahlad Maharaja said, "tat vimukha-cetasa". Those who are not trying to understand You, and averse to You-this their illusory happiness. You may live for 10-20-25-50 or 100 years. For this you are working so hard-you are carrying so many burdens just like an ass. I am worried for these fools only.

The Vaisnavas think that way. And Chaitanya Mahaprabhu also thought that way. Whatever God feels, the devotees also feel as well. In the Bhagavad Gita Lord Krsna spoke of divine and demoniac natures. There Sri Ramanujacharya said, "divine nature means, those who accept the injunctions of the Supreme Personality of Godhead are classed as divine or godly and others who violate them as demoniac". That's all. So the Supreme Lord Sri Krsna is saying, "sarva-dharman parityaja mam ekam saranam vraja."

This is the order of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. If we follow this order, then we will become godly persons. It does not take much time to become a godly person. If we accept this order then we can become a godly person in one second. And that is our dharma or religious principle. Religion means nothing else. Religion means whatever the Supreme Lord says, we have to accept that-that is religion. And any religion made by Rama-Shyama [Tom, Dick, Harry] is not a religion at all. Just like law, law means rules made by the king. That is law. If a common man, like me, makes a law, who will follow that? That is not the law. Therefore Bhagavatam says, dharmah projjhita-kaitavao'tra, all the cheating religions have been completely rejected. For example Lord Sri Krsna says, "sarva dharman parityajya mama ekam saranam vraja." Similarly Srimad Bhagavatam also says dharmah projjhita-kailavo'tra.

I'm not going to take much of your time. What is the reason of preaching work, that is going on in the Western countries? The reason is that they are given the factual religion without any interpretation, as it is. That's all. Many people say, "You have performed magic." Whatever the Supreme Personality of Godhead says-I do not add anything else to it-that is the magic. That's all. The subject matter of our preaching is Bhagavad-Gita, not anything else. Our books are being printed by the McMillon Company. They sell 50 thousand to 1 lakh copies of books every year and we get a good guarantee. Therefore we named this Bhagavad-Gita, as it is. It is not that yato mala tato patha. Anyone can say anything in the name of God's instruction. No. Bhagavad-gita as it is.

Dharma-ksetra kuru-ksetra samavata yuyutsavah-there is no other meaning exept the direct meaning. Kuru-kesetra is dharmaksetra, a place of pilgrimage. In that place the sons of Pandu, and the sons of Dhrtarastra faught each other after assembling there. What is there any need for interpretation in it? It is easy to understand. But the so called big big scholars say, "No, dharma-ksetra means this body and the Pandavas means five senses of the body." By doing so people are polluting everyone's brain. But we are saying, "no that is not the right point." Factually there was a war. Lord Sri Krsna is the friend of Arjuna and He drove Arjuna's chariot-and for this reason Arjuna was victorious. Lord Krsna spoke Bhagavad-Gita to Arjuna because he was a very dear friend of Krsna. Try to understand this as Arjuna had understood Lord Krsna's instructions. That's all. When Arjuna said to Krsna-what did he says? Param brahma param dhama pavitram paramam bhavan, You are Supreme Brahman. What did he say? Supreme Brahman. Because we are all Brahman. Aham brahmasmi and Krsna is the Supreme Brahman. There is no Brahman superior to Krsna. You are Brahman and I am also Brahman. You are may be more intelligent and richer than me, then you are big Brahman and I am small Brahman. Maybe someone else is grater or smaller Brahman than you. But the Supreme Brahman means Krsna. No one is superior to Him. That's all. This is called param Brahman. There is no one superior to Krsna in history. We have to understand this by seeing His activities.

Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu has given us love of Krsna, Krsna prema and He also blessed "prithivete acche yati nagaradigram, sarvatra prachara haibe more nama. Krsnastu svayam bhagavan." By His blessing, the truth is being preached everywhere in the world. They are being instructed, "In your sinful life you can not understand Krsna!" Lord Krsna Himself said "yesam tv anta-gatam papam jananam punya-karmanam, te dvandra moha-nirmukta bhajante mam drdha-vratah. All the sinful activities have to be given up. In Europe and America, as you all know that, drinking alcohol, having illicit sex, eating meat and smoking cigarettes-are all just regular daily activities in their lives. It is exactly like our eating regular rice and dahl. But they are being told, "You have to give up all these things". You can not have illicit sex. You can not have intimate relationships except with anyone but your wedded wife. Matrvat-panadaresu. You hav eto consider other married women as your mother. You can only keep intimate relationships with your own wife. They said "Yes, agreed".

Not only wine, but also tea, biddi, cigarettes are all prohibited. They agreed. Yes we will follow that. And no gambling-eating no meat, fish eggs, then you are welcome. In this way they have given up the sinful life. You can see. That's why the are happily dancing in a very beautiful way-Krsna kirtana gannartanakarou. Can we not do that? This is from our country but why are we not able to do that? Because those sins have entered the society. Our leaders who are raksas or demons, they have taught us sin. How will the society learn about god? That's why they are becoming different. They are becoming Naxalites, Communists, this or that.

The young generation is being ruined. We are saying that this is not in our credit, because it is already there in us. It is there. If we mention that, they say these are just old useless topics. Speak about latest new thing, current thing. Topics about Max's.

Lenin-speak about them. For this reason nothing is improving. Everything is being destroyed. So hear very carefully that ancient topic and chant Hare Krsna, and your life will be successful. Thank you very much.
