blessings

The secret of success in spiritual life is in satisfying the spiritual master and thereby getting his sincere blessings.
The secret of success in spiritual life is in satisfying the spiritual master and thereby getting His sincere blessings. Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakur has sung in his famous eight stanzas on the spiritual master as follows: "I offer my respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet of my spiritual master. Only by his satisfaction can one please the Personality of Godhead, and when he is dissatisfied there is only havoc on the path of spiritual realization." It is essential, therefore, that a disciple be very much obedient and submissive to the bona fide spiritual master. Srila Sūta Gosvami fulfilled all these qualifications as a disciple, and therefore he was endowed with all favors by his learned and self-realized spiritual masters such as Srila Vyasadeva and others. The sages of Naimisaranya were confident that Srila Sūta Gosvami was bona fide. Therefore they were anxious to hear from him.    (More...)
"And because you are submissive your spiritual masters have endowed you with all their favors. Therefore you can tell us all you have learned from them. " (Srimad-Bhagavatam 1.1.8) Two words are significant, saumya and snigdasya. These words mean pure, simple and submissive. Because the acaryadeva is submissive to the desires and requirements of his Guru Maharaj, the seed of spiritual insemination is placed within him and he becomes fertile with transcendental knowledge. Our Spiritual Master's Guru Maharaja, Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati, once stated that the guru is able to speak exactly according to qualifications of the audience. Therefore there is a reciprocation which must involve both parties, the hearer and the speaker. If the hearer is pure, simple and submissive, then the speaker is able to engender the highest spiritual perfection through the medium of transcendental sound vibration. On the other hand, if there is some defect in the listener's moral stance, then the level must be lowered to an acceptable platform. It is up to the guru to find the exact level on which to present the unalterable truths. "…In the Third Canto, twenty-fifth Chapter, twenty second verse, of the Srimad-Bhagavatam, Lord Kapila says, 'My dear mother, when a person is actually in association with devotees, the sublime potency of My devotional service can be experienced.' In other words, when a pure devotee speaks, his words act upon the hearts of the audience…(and have) the potency to inject spiritual life within the audience."    (More...)
